Let's wait it out and see what time reveals. Expect the press to cover this one full-bore and expect the Marines in question to be guilty before trial. If it's true, it's a pretty sad state of affairs. Marines are among our highest trained soldiers over there doing a tough job. They are under a great deal of stress, sure; but does that make their actions right? Hell no. There is no reason, NO REASON, to intentionally kill unarmed civilians. It's not right when the "insurgents" do it daily and it's not right now when we have apparently done the same thing.

I think the truth, once we can sift through the politics of it all, will be that someone moved in a threatening manner inside that house and the Marines did what they are supposed to do: Kill. Let us not forget the nature of the conflict. It is a conflict where every person on the street, man woman or child, is a potential threat. When your job is to protect the lives of your fellow soldiers, innocent civilians, and yourself--and in that order--things become a bit skewed when the people you are supposed to protect are also the ones you are supposed to kill. Will we ever know what really happened in that house? We'll hear from the Marines' lawyers, we'll hear from Murtha and other anti-war people, we'll hear from the talking-heads... Somewhere in between will be the truth.

I hope it's not true.

I agree. If any country the US invades actually try to resist, then kill them all and let god sort them out.

It sounds pretty bad from what's made it into the press so far, but I'm trying to withhold judgment until all the evidence comes out.

There's a difference between resisting aggression, which can be lawful, and throwing out all of the laws of civilized warfare, which never is.

Yes Ned, let us not forget that the "insurgents" intentionally target women and children every day. So saying what you said is a little off-topic.

I would hold judgement until the forensic evidence is available. Innocent until proven guilty. There have been incidents in the past where locals were killed by insurgents, and the massacres blamed on US troops.

This act was not committed due to the death of civilians. And most of their targets is against, what they consider, the puppet goverment.

The left wing liberal media/mid east apologists/terroists/peacniks slant many stories to make the US and our cause as "crusaders" and a "crusade".

While many think the crusades were wrong, and they maybe right (Saladin-- a Muslim was far more lenient than the Europeans in most cases), to equate us a crusader nation looking to destroy the Islamic world is crap....

We are there for 1)oil, 2)revenge, 3)and to kick some tail...

Onward...

I'm not a big fan of the Bush regime, but I don't fault those marines. They are just carrying out orders and it necessarily isn't their fault that Rumsfeld has turned them into the Gestapo. That's the way I feel about the average german soldier during world war II. Blame the nazi remine, not those who were manipulated and threatened into carrying out orders by the wretched war whores that were in power.

Anytime you give a kid a gun and make him go play soldier boy over in a foreign land horrible things are going to happen. They're probably so screwed up by the propaganda Bush and company have fed them, they've probably lost all concept of right and wrong. That usually happens in war.

Who knows... and I suspect we never will...

The only way I'll believe anything is if the military come forward and admit to it... Anything else means nothing really...
