If the item was described fairly in your ad I say screw it...

He may of had a similar item that was broken and wants to send his back to you...

What is your return policy, if any???

I would check this persons feedback and contact ebay and paypal first, before he does.

I've been on both sides and IMO, I don't like your chances. From what I know, Paypal normally sides with the buyer. I hope in your case though I'm wrong. If it comes down to a he said / she said, I'm not sure how they assign fault.

If I were you I'd cover myself by saying that he's welcome to return it for you to check if it is working or not. If it is working (or you manage to fix the problem) you'll return it and not pay for his shipping. If it really isn't working you probably should give him a full refund, including any shipping he paid for.

I'd also mention on future listings that your item is "sold as seen" and you don't accept returns- I've found it puts off time-wasters :)
