Ok so my old MSI computer (small form factor gaming rig) decided to pack up - on further investigation it turns out that a £15 bios chip was probably the fault...so I took this as a chance to spend nearly a grand on a new system....haha
The important specs are:
HP xw8600
4gb Ram
2.83ghz quad xeon processor (11.32ghz) 1333mhz fsb 12mb L2 cache
raid/scsi controllers
Nvidia 8600gts I stuck in myself from the old one...
Sounds pretty normal right?
Here's what it can max out at:
128gb RAM
22,6ghz processor - 2x quad core Xeons running 3.4ghz each
So its bought with only one quad xeon and 4gb of ram but if I upgrade to the most it basically runs beyond anything you can buy domestically...the HPxw8600s were designed for Avid and Adobe products - they piss through HD renders - they sell brand new with Nvidia Quadro gfx cards (which cost about 1,500 on their own) for around 4,500 quid - it's a server tower that can hold tons of drives and upgrade with a riser to 128gb of ram...fucking AWESOME POWER!
And these are about two years old I think...got it for 850 off ebay :D:D
