Filming last night went fantastic. It seems every time we film we're getting more and more efficient, and filming seems to goes better than planned. I think we're actually learning something about this filmmaking stuff!

Kidding aside - we didn't do much with zombies last night, but instead concentrated mostly on some scenes with our military personnel in the 'shelter'

I figured i'd share a few pics from the set from last night. I'll post more pics tomorrow after the filming this evening. Enjoy.. :)

Out military personnel, meeting to discuss the situation (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/LouCipherr/DEADLANDS/DSC00700.jpg)

Dj and our director of photography hard at work (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/LouCipherr/DEADLANDS/DSC00682.jpg)

Our DP, working with our actor friend Dave on the street (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/LouCipherr/DEADLANDS/DSC00721.jpg)

And finally, the producer (me) of the film doing what a producer does best. (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/LouCipherr/DEADLANDS/DSC00683.jpg)

More to come...

What can I say - Dj gave me the producer job from the very beginning of the film so I figured I had better live up to the title. :D

I'll post some more pics from saturday night a bit later today. I'm still trying to wake up here - was up 'till 5:30am.. ugh.. :)

Last night was a very productive night, but hard in terms of the final clean-up. We wrapped filming at 2:15am, and was at location mopping up blood, washing down doors, and cleaning up the outside from the slaughter plus general house keeping duties.

Lou and I, after cleaning up, retreated back to his place and went through his huge list of photos on my laptop, talked about running time, and general chit chat about the next filming weekends. by 5:30 it was sleep time and at 11:30 the call to wake-up arrived. After a cup of coffee, and sewing circle conversation with his wife on the back porch about her night, Lou finally crawled out of bed and we discussed the pros and cons about last nights shoot.

Now 2 hours later I am at home and beginning to assemble all the footage from last night into the editing cue and I am going to be concentrating on one of those last minute money shots that didn't come off too hot, but i believe is still salvageable, if it isn't we will pick up that one shot at another location in the next month.

Lou took a huge amount of photos, and although he won't admit it, I think he has a natural eye for photography and his new Sony Digital Camera has been put to extreme use on the set of DEADLANDS since he purchased it 2 months ago. As soon as I piece together the shots I need to take a close look at I will assemble some of his best photos and post them on my website.

You should put together a photo gallery/slide show for the DVD as well. That's what I tend to do when I knock up a DVD of any of the short films I make, since getting a phone with a camera (and now a basic digital snappy camera) I'm mad about documenting the process of putting together a short film from scripting and planning to actually doing it all the way through editing.

Now, back to Big Brother! :p:D

Oh I am gonna do a massive slide show, maybe even get Lou to narrate it. I think on My Laptop alone I have over 125 photos.

That would be a cool idea with the photo gallery. I wouldn't mind narrating it at all. In fact, that would be fun. :)

here's a few more pics to share - there's some others I want to post, but i'm awaiting approval from Dj as I don't want to give away too much of the makeup special effects we pulled off this weekend because some of it was just outta this world... but it might be better not to give away everything, so I'll just wait and see what he says.

In the mean time, here's a few I know I can share without giving away too much...

Ya know, I think that'll be a bit sore in the morning... (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/LouCipherr/DEADLANDS/DSC00802.jpg)

A young zombie, looking at dad as a possible meal.. (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/LouCipherr/DEADLANDS/DSC00745.jpg)

Our actor friend Dave again, checking to make sure the coast is clear... (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/LouCipherr/DEADLANDS/DSC00779.jpg)

A zombie feast about ready to go down.. (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/LouCipherr/DEADLANDS/DSC00800.jpg) :elol:

The planet formerly known as Earth lies scorched and barren. Survivors live underground, ever on the defensive against rotters -- mindless corpses that troll the sweltering surface. A new menace has evolved, set on human annihilation.

Did you guys get licensing rights? ;)

I found this on Amazon.

Don't need them. Completely different stories, and I now use a subtitle.

There is also a game called Deadlands. I think they are free to use the name, but I am not certain.

Sorry, I am too tired to have a sense of Humor today. Was a grueling weekend if you catch my drift.

It's not PMS :D I took my Midol on Friday Night and Saturday night.
Just having a snit fit like I do after every filming weekend. Although I must say the SLURPEE Behind the Scenes Video cheers me up quite a bit. It is one of the more disgusting, yet entertaining highlights of this film shoot. It took the top spot of my favorite BTS laugh tracks. It knocked "Saving 25%" out of the top spot.

That slurpee video was something else. As I watched it, I thought, "oh no he di'nt!" Then I watched it again just to be sure.

I ask myself if a big screen actor was asked to do the same thing, would he/she? Somehow, I doubt it. Way to go with the enthusiasm of your crew, DJ.

Now get the damned thing done so we can all enjoy it.

3 more weekends of filming to go. 3 more. Be glad I am editing as we film.

Man, josh by far takes the cake for being the most dedicated extra I've ever seen in my entire life. I could not BELIEVE he did that!! That's what kind of extras a director wishes he could get all the time.

..and no, I don't think a big screen actor would've had the nads to do something like that. This took a "special" <ahem> person, and Josh fit the bill perfectly. :D

Every time I watch the clip it almost makes me sick, but then when I hear the crowd of 30+ extras that were standing around going "eeeewwww!" and the DP saying "That was AWESOME!!!" - I can't help but giggle to myself.. :elol:
