Yeah, I saw that pic a month or so ago, but since I'm not currently on a bash Obama kick, I decided not to post it. What was considered racist about it?

I don't think portraying 0 as the Joker really hits the nail on the head. I mean, really, Heath Ledger as the Joker was cool. 0 is not cool ... fool maybe, but not cool.

bit of political satire from someone just using his creativity...I think its pretty awesome actually...although I really dislike the village mentality of jumping on Obama before he's finished his inauguration...maybe 2 years down the line I'll think differently but on a basic level now, I have 100% less of a problem with the O man than Bush.

While the one guy made the image, someone else doctored it further with the Socialism subtitle, but like all Right Wing Conservatives, THX only tells a part of the story, the part that suits his need instead of highlighting moments from the article that note the person originally responsible for the Jokerisation of Obama was not the same person who did the Socialism subtitle.

Thats what great about Propaganda to Right Wingers... Spin what you need,but don't clear up all the facts.

Regardless, Alkhateeb does agree with the Obama "Hope" artist about "socialism" being the wrong caption for the Joker image. "It really doesn't make any sense to me at all," he said. "To accuse him of being a socialist is really ... immature. First of all, who said being a socialist is evil?"

^Ned, some people will view the "white face" depiction as racist, particularly if not familiar with The Dark Knight's Joker.

I still think it's a cool graphic, but he probably should not have mentioned using Photoshop in print. Odds are a 20-year old history student doesn't legally own the software, or perhaps used college property to create the image.

I don't think it is racist, stupid and in poor taste yes but racist no. However how it is used may be construed as racist. This was done to W in 2003 (I think) and I now use that as my avatar image...its not the tool that is at fault, it is the user of said tool. Just like a firearm it cannot, by itself harm anyone, not put in the hands of the wrong person...HEADLINES!!! I think we should take into consideration the overall hate in peoples eyes and hearts an ponder out role in the world. Money is, by all measure, the ROOT of ALL EVIL!

That's what I thought....but my internal dialogue went as follows:

He might have a student copy of PS (they exist, a lot cheaper too)
Adobe doesn't seem to care about their software getting cracked...why? Because of kids like him....they get PS, learn it, become good at it, and suddenly they're being paid by a company to do it professionally - however the company can't get away with owning a cracked version, so all the "illegal" copies do is serve to create more Photoshop artists....who then have to start using it legitimately....it's the same with Avid....

I've even heard inside-industry hints from people quite high up that some programs are cracked by the developers for that reason....although I can't say which!!
