Zone of the Dead Lines Up U.S. Screening

The Serbian zombie indie flick Zone Of The Dead will makes it's U.S. debut at the upcoming Horror Realm convention in Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday September 18.

The film was co-directed by Milan Konjevic and Milan Todorovic from a script by Konjevic, Todorovic and Vukota Brajovic. Genre vet Ken Foree stars as Interpol agent Mortimer Reyes, who along with fellow agent Mina Milius (Kristina Klebe), must join forces with the prisoner they are assigned to escort to escape zombies created by an ecological disaster in the Serbian town of Pancevo.

Both Foree and Klebe appeared in Rob Zombie's Halloween. Ken Foree is a fan favorite in Pittsburgh, having played the lead role in the seminal George Romero zombie film Dawn of the Dead, which was filmed at the Monroeville Mall just outside Pittsburgh in 1978.

Foree will be in attendance at the convention along with Bill Moseley, David Naughton, Ken Foree, Tony Todd, Leslie Easterbrook, Tiffany Shepis, Robert Z'Dar and many more. The convention runs from September 18-20. Full details can be found at: HorrorRealmCon.

No U.S. distribution deal has been set up as of press time for Zone Of The Dead, so this'll be your first chance to catch the film on the big screen here in the States.

I'm definitely adding this gem to my Netflix queue when it's available... not sure if it's going to be B-grade or not, but chances are Foree will bring it up a notch regardless of the filming. Europe generally makes better films these days anyway, but that's a different argument all together...

I said in the last thread about this (thanks for the link, Moon) and I'll say it again.

A Serbian production? Aw jeez...

Anyway, to be fair, the general premise of the film is a fun one, but I have my doubts. Who will brave this and give us a review? I assume there will be no dearth of intrepid viewers, I mean we're talking about Ken "Full-Zombie-Press" Foree, here.

Judging from the trailer, while I'm not certain it looks good, it certainly looks fun. I'm a huge Ken Foree fan so I'll definitely be down for viewing this. Also, nice little homage there when the girl says something along the lines of "We haven't heard from Savini!"

You're welcome! & I'll be glad to take the bullet on review-age as soon as I can get a hold of a copy.

It will be nice to see Ken in a much bigger role than some of the recent flicks he's been in.

I've been looking for this one for a few months now. Heard about it first when I was in Bosnia in July, but it's very tough to get ahold off. And the people who'd seen it saw that it sucked big time.

To be honest, this doesn't look very good. For one, the dialogue sounds like it was written by someone with a Serbian-English translating dictionary.

I'd say the litmus test for "good" is if Ken Foree himself can watch the film all the way through and not hide his face in embarrassment. :D

I, on the other hand, will probably enjoy it regardless.

Been a while since I saw this one. Don't remember it being very good. A steaming turd would be a good description for it.
