The HD DVD package was shipped today which finally closed the book on 2 years of work for Deadlands 2.

Its like that feeling when you trade in your old car for a new one and you miss your old car at first.

Just to help transition myself I volunteered to shoot and edit a video for cleaning class 100 - class 100,000 clean rooms for a biotech company.

I feel useless.

On the bright side you can always sneakily shoot some free footage inside a real Biotech lab with guys in real hazmat suits. Just get someone to drop a test tube, and instruct everyone to flail around, sinking to their knees and clutching their throats (tell 'em its for a section on Health and Safety)... and BANG! You got the first ten minutes of Deadlands 3!

We sort of did that in Deadlands 2... They are scenes shot inside a Biotech facility. :p

I know how you feel Deej, I recently finished up filming & editing a new educational DVD, and we're in-between projects right now, so I'm kinda at a loose end.

I'm filling my time with writing (well, okay, trying to write ... or thinking about writing), watching movies, playing Fallout 3, and well ... pornography.:lol::lol:

Will be back into doing stuff soon enough though, so I should really try and get my ass in front of Final Draft and get re-drafting one of my feature scripts (a comedy) that I'm looking to submit to places.

Trying to man, but I feel like I should be out shooting something.

Also, I still feel like I haven't made the zombie film I need to make, so while this cleaning video footage is capturing I am actually going through the Deadlands 3 script and jotting down notes for more zombie footage, and placing a big note on the front page that says... ZOMBIE ATTACKS need to be DAY of the DEAD Violent.

Can I make a gore suggestion? This is going to sound perverted, but stay with me. You know what would be gross in a gut munching scene? Poop. Think about it - in every zombie movie, we see zombies pulling out guts and eating them. We see lots of blood but never any of the stuff which we all know is INSIDE those fat coils of intestine. In reality, there'd be brown fecal matter all over the place, squirting out through perforated tissue as the zombies rip and squeeze and claw at the unlucky victim's exposed bowels. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a closet 2 Girls 1 Cup fan here, but I think it would be not only fucking disgusting and shockingly unexpected even for hardened gore-nuts, but kinda logical too...

NUTTELLA FOR DEADLANDS 3!!!

Well, you can't expect to constantly be in creative/work mode. You NEED to recharge your batteries.

It's not like you're a working man suddenly being forced to go on welfare. You earned some R. & R. Trust me, in life that never lasts too long.

While Anatomically, if that is the correct word here, the bowel fecal stuff would be accurate, I don't think I could stomach any such thing. Tis worth putting down as a note, but I dunno. :shifty:

Initially, I was half-joking but now, when I watch Deadlands 3, my nose will be pressed to the screen looking for the tiniest blob of brown.... :p

Looking back over my last coupla posts in this thread, I do come across as a bit weird, don't I? :shifty:

Yes you do, Kraken ... yes you do.

That said ... I'd be weirdly interested to see that in a zombie movie - albeit briefly - because I do always think "where's the poop?" when the intestines start getting hacked into - or indeed, perhaps the contents of the victim's stomach - so it's a stage before poop, maybe, if you're not up to the stomach of seeing some zeds briefly claw out some victim crap. :p

But I have thought about that a few times ... as well as the whole South Park thing of "you crap when you die" - well how come these zombies don't have massive brown stains in their shorts?

...

Damnit Kraken, now I sound as weird as you!:lol:

...

Seriously though, you do sometimes wonder ... but then you remember it's kinda gross, so...

Still though, perhaps a very brief "brown shot" would be funny just to do what no other zombie movie has done before (however, I'm not entirely sure, but perhaps Dead Set had a mention of shit and bowels - not sure if the geyser of fluid was blood or turds, the damn camera was shaking around too much and the colours were all mixed up so you could never really know).

Like I said though - how about someone's stomach gets ripped open, and there's like chewed up pizza in there or something? Again - never seen before, as far as I'm aware.

...

BTW - I also love the sound of "ZOMBIE ATTACKS need to be DAY of the DEAD Violent." :elol:

Kraken, you don't come off weird, but I did have a dream last night about zombies eating intestines... No brown stuff came out, but thinking about it made me laugh... I imagine as a zed bites in his face gets squirted with some brown shit... then I could title the movie.... DEADLANDS 3: SCAT LOVIN ZOMBIES

Thankfully though I have much respect for the genre that I would never do something of that nature, but it is fun to talk about it. :D

haha, unfortunately too many bastards referred to Deadlands 1 as the crapfest. The problem with showing the scat once... it makes it even more unrealistic to NOT show it everytime.

I'm all for being as realistic as possible... but there are lines to draw. :)

MZ funny you mention Fallout 3... my partner in making Hell on Earth is a lead artist on that game.

DJ, thought you were going to the islands to shoot the music videos... need a 1st AC? ;-) I think we both deserve some R&R!

WOW... Just two days ago I was complaining about being bored since the Mastering of Deadlands 2 was complete.... but man I should have kept my mouth shut.

We had a major dilema arise in the pressing of the HD DVDs, but thankfully it all worked itself out. The original MFG company had to bag on us because they never informed their sales reps the STAMPERS were removed, so Alex and I spent the entire day on the phone calling 20 other mastering houses in the USA. We found one in the midwest that was able to pick up the slack and make sure we hit our target date.

This has definitely been the strangest release of anything I have ever been involved with in the last 4 years of my indie filmmaking career. I used to love rollercoasters because of the intense thrill... Now I think I get an even better high off of trying to meet short deadlines and making things happen when the whole world is against it (Manner of speaking)

This has definitely been a crazy friggin' month.

Just think guys this might honestly be the last HD DVD ever. Since everyone has returned their stampers.

If the USA plants couldn't handle it, the package would have needed to be shipped to Germany which seems to be the only country with HD DVD stampers other than China and the studio couldn't trust china because of the mass pirating problem over there. If we would have had to ship to Germany it would have delayed the release by 2 weeks, but we lucked out.

Man I could use a drink right now...

Blimey, it's a right old adventure making a Deadlands movie isn't it?

Always makes for good stories to tell though.

Coolio.

Yeah, something to tell my grand kids.... oh wait, I got to have real kids first, and since I am not into having any kids that'll never happen. :D

I think one DjfunkmasterG is enough for the world to handle

Surely you can squeeze at least one zombie in it?

Believe me I would have loved to do that, in fact the way i shot the crew enterting the facility was done with a very dark and horror style tone.

One of the few training videos where I was using a dolly and some really artistic camera angles.

Although.. no zombies. However, I could throw something in as a joke since I have to do a re-shoot for one sequence. I could shamble past the camera... my only time to ever use a romero style zombie.
