Well where do I start? People are coming out of the wood work to rally around this Festival. And I can honestly for the first time this year “we have a show”. It’s funny I forget about all the things we already have. Like 15 Night of the Living Dead cast and crew,7 of which have never been at a show before. We have Andy Jones’s collection never before seen. We have a limited festival edition book that Andy put together and that will something the real fans will want. I picked the first proof of it up today and it’s very cool. We have Terry Gindele’s film “A Day in the life of a Ghoul” you can see a teaser on our website. And a little piece on Terry.
But some new stuff as you may or may not know because we canceled The Strand we are having live music. Not only are we having live music but we are having Pittsburgh rock legend Norman Nardini performing on Saturday at 7pm, Norman is really psyched about this gig because right after his set we will be screening for the first ever in public I think. “Song of the Dead” a Jack Russo/Russ Streiner short subject film that Norm did the music for. http://www.normannardini.com/index.htm On Friday we have The Botched at around 7:30 pm They were rated by someone as the Worst Band in Pittsburgh and I just want to bring them up and see if they are!!~ Plus they have a huge following. http://www.myspace.com/thebotched On Friday we have a band up from West Virginia called The Resonators, their base player is a friend of mine and if there not good I’ll have to kick his ass. Just kidding of course. http://www.myspace.com/yourresonation Back again this year will be Richard Reifenstine who set a wonderful musical tone leading us into the film last year. http://www.myspace.com/richardreifenstein
One other great attraction will be DJ MaxT. Spinning real platters, he is a show in its self.
We have Jesters Court doing tattoo out of an ambulance made to look like a Ghoulish Nasscar. This is one great photo-op. We are going to be giving people a peek of the beast @ Zombie Walk at the mall on Sunday. http://www.theitsaliveshow.com/zombiefest09.htm
We have Benzie of Benzidream showing how FX makeup is done. He and most of his crew are graduates of the Savini School for FX makeup. http://www.benzidreamfxstudios.com/index.php

Hey Gary,

Just FYI, John Russo was doing some pub for the festival while he was down in Orlando over the weekend. Too bad I can't come!

Things are cooking, Andy’s book is shaping up nicely and we are hoping to have the final in this week. Well I guess we better right? Look out for the Ambulance if your anywhere around The Jester’s Court shops around town. Sean is driving it while his van is in the shop. I love things like that. Another bit of News is that the Pig Roast tickets are on sale on the ticket page of our site $6 online $8 if you can see the pig. We will only be roasting one pig (around 100 meals) unless you buy enough tickets in the next week to add another one.

As for volunteers…I need people to be ticket takers both days probably need 4 or 5. I need people to help wrap the pavilions at EDCO in plastic on Thursday Oct 22nd 1 or 2 or 3. Check in with me for details. Need people on Thursday the 29th to help set up the stage, from noon on. Need like 4 clean-up people on Sunday Nov. 1st for 1 hr. or so at like 10am. That’s the list for now. So now all of you that wanted to help can see where you might fit in.

Thanks in advance for your help!!~

PRESS RELEASE

"THE SONG OF THE DEAD"

HORROR LEGENDS TEAM WITH MUSIC LEGENDS TO MAKE A SPINE-TINGLING MOVIE!

For Immediate Release:

John Russo and Russ Streiner, two of the people responsible for the horror classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, have unleashed their newest fright flick,
THE SONG OF THE DEAD, just in time for Halloween! It will be premiered at the THE LIVING DEAD FESTIVAL which takes place on October 30 and 31, 2009. The film will be shown on Saturday the 31st before "Night".

The movie stars rock icons Shari Richards and Norman Nardini as husband-and-wife entertainers who are set upon by a serial killer -- right in their own backyard. We don't want to give away too much of the plot or the macabre ending, but suffice it to say that it's a pulse-pounding struggle for survival with the outcome always in doubt.

THE SONG OF THE DEAD is a 20-minute featurette that is the lead-in for a 90-minute theatrical version that will be shot in the spring of 2010. Two of the supporting roles are played by Justin Walton, who graduated from Russo and Streiner's movie-making program at DuBois Business College, and by Corie Allessie, who is enrolled in the program and will soon earn his associate degree. In her film debut, Amber Sobieralski gives a very creditable performance as a lovely young lady who becomes the killer's first intended victim.

The movie is loaded with original music composed by Norman Nardini and performed by Norman and Shari. This fact is sure to please the many fans who have long applauded their incredible talent and versatility.

Russo says, "This movie started as a way to involve our movie-making students totally in a professional production, so they could work first-hand with me and Russ Streiner on actual sets and locations. We always strive to give them the full benefit of our years of experience so their path to success can be made easier and faster. In this case, they did the lighting, the sound recording and the cinematogrphy, and the results were so spectacular that we became more and more enthused over the possibility of completing the movie as a full-length feature."

Streiner adds, "Shari Richards was outstanding in her first major role. She gave a knock-out performance. And so did everyone else. This project is a credit to everyone who participated."

Russo and Streiner, who have written, produced and directed more than a dozen feature movies in the course of their long careers, now derive a great deal of satisfaction from teaching and mentoring young aspiring filmmakers. At the same time, they are still highly active within the entertainment industry. Mr. Streiner is chairman of the Pittsburgh Film Office and has been instrumental in bringing many high-budget movies to the Pittsburgh area. He is slated to co-produce a multi-million-dollar horror film, ESCAPE OF THE LIVING DEAD, which was written and will be directed by Mr. Russo. This hard-working team has many other projects in the works, including several documentaries and a television pilot. :elol:

I saw your commercial for this on the It's Alive show. I think that was a good idea. It should pull you in a lot of locals who love the movie.
