This is sort of endorsement of powerline technology. This is a simple way to network your house for internet, although it is expensive to use all over the house.
Powerline uses your house's electrical wiring as the means to provide an ethernet connection between two points. I use the U.S. version of this model:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Powerline-Networking-1000Mbps-Enclosures/dp/B00267Q3SI/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1257865333&sr=8-7
Plug one into the wall near your router, and one near your gaming system. The above Belkin units perform great in my house. I use wireless as well for most things, but I use the Belkin to connect my home theater. The Belkin kicks Wireless N to the curb. It connects my Playstation 3, HD DVD player, and Roku Netflix/Amazon player with no hiccups and real world throughput of up to half a gigabit.
Results will vary based upon the wiring in your house between the two points, but in my house it works great.
