Hrm. Looks like a cross between 300, a Guillermo Del Toro flick, and your average actioner. I must say it doesn't look as bad as I expected, though. Not everything was CG at least.
And although Terminator Salvation wasn't impressive, I really enjoyed Sam Worthington's performance...

I did not watch the trailer, I loved the original and hate the idea of remakes...even though I love to watch them.

I love the original, grew up watching that movie. the remake will be an interesting experience, if nothing else...!
that scene where medusa is hunting the soldiers and Perseus is one of the scariest, intense scenes in any film...ever...in fact the whole film is creepy, brilliantly done...from the kraken to the blind witches, and the clockwork owl...awesomely done, brilliant movie. LOVE IT.

I'm going to approach this one with blind optimism. I grew up watching the original every chance I got, but it isn't exactly something I hold to be sacred. It could use some of the FX of today's movies, imo.

the original is an awesome film, and i seriously doubt that this remake will do any justice to it.
that trailer probably showed all the cool stuff, but to me it looks a bit over the top and waaay to heavy on the cgi....
and fuck that nu-metal shit. goddamn, they use that crap for almost every fucking action/adventure film trailer these days.

Watched the original years and years ago as a kid. Haven't seen it since.
This remake looks meh. Worthington indeed rocks, he was one of the good things about T4, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him in Avatar ... but goddamn, that trailer was pish.
Terrible music choice, and it just looks ghey.

Turned it off the moment the nu-metal music started. Is this what they waste millions of dollars on nowadays? It's enough to make you puke! :barf:

If you liked Clash of The Titan, you would like Ray Harryhausen's earlier film 'Jason and The Argonauts. ' which was a stronger movie in many respects. The biggest problem for Clash was it competing indirectly with Star Wars ( thus a a mechanical droid like owl, Bubo ) and to draw in older audiences they spent a lion's share of the budget to bring in Lawrence Olivier, Maggie Smith, Claire Bloom and Ursula Andress to rightfully play the Gods.
Of course Hera will always be Honor Blackman( of Goldfinger and The Avengers fame ) from Jason.
On the plus side, we had the lovely Judi Bowker ( Mina Harker, Count Dracula with Louis Jordan 78) as Andromeda and when scenes worked ( as with Medusa. ) they really worked.
I met Harryhausen years ago at a con and he was kind and generous with his time. Rarely have I so honored by anyone since.

Surely investing in smaller, but good, movies would make more financial sense?

Was a huge fan of the original as a child. Haven't seen it in ages but, correct me if I'm wrong, there wasn't a romantic interest in that film, right (aside from saving the Princess)? This trailer gives me that sense of a completely-non-essential romance sub-plot being thrown into the movie.

I cant believe out of all the replies that nobody has mentioned the tagline "Titans will clash". That annoyed me more than the music...

For some reason, I'm not all that bothered that they're doing a "remake" of CotT. Maybe it's because it's based on mythology & was retold & adapted in the first place rather than an original piece of work?
Kinda like when they bring out a new Dracula movie, King Arthur, etc. Hurm...:rockbrow:

I think the problem though, is there's a distinct lack of charm about this flashy, stupid soundtracked remake.

I LOve this film !! I'm not a big fan of remakes because they are almost never done well and are almost always from the same genre. (Horror/action)
However, I've always thought that if any film needed one it was this one.
Great film but it has aged terribly.

I finally broke down and watched it...I must say I thought it looked good. But I am in the "300 was a good flick" camp. The music didn't bother me, the tag line...I didn't even notice. I like the actor who is doing the narrating in the trailer...I remember him in the usual suspects. Looks like a hoot...get it hoot? I will rent this one but it look like fun.

That's where im coming from as well. A good remake definitely wouldn't hurt, but more often than not remakes suck. So it's just a waiting game, I suppose.
You know what DOESN'T hurt the film? Liam Neeson as Zeus and Ralph Fiennes as Hades!:stunned:

Oh I never said it would be GOOD...it's just somehow doing a new version of something that isn't an original property or exists outside the bounds of the original film just doesn't fuss me as much, if that makes sense?
Then again, maybe it's just the property in question...now that I think about it I'm probably gonna dodge RDJ's Sherlock Holmes as it looks totally off the wall & not what I expect from a Holmes movie, & Holmes is a character who has been interpreted innumerable times, so...hurm...:|

See, but then there are all the crappy remakes we get and then there are faithfull ones who don't deviate from the story very much and just pretty much update the effects.
For some reason studios just find that too daunting a task. A good example is in the media of video games. In that arena there are two perfect examples. Check out Tomb Raider Anniversary which remade the original from 1996 and Resident Evil remake for the gamecube which also remade it's 1996 original. With the exception of some minor tweaks all they really did was update the graphics, add a couple of new rooms/weapons, but nothing major and it worked perfectly.
Now if only the movie studios could duplicate that.
First rule when remaking a film?
FIRST, DO NO HARM !!

I'm also in the 300 camp. Sure, it was over the top, but it was a damn fun watch. And really, with an action flick, thats all I want. Approx 2 hrs of violence hiding behind a paper thin plot.
Its horror movies I hold to a higher standard. :D

I am a huge fan of the original. I'll give this a chance, but I can assure you it will probably disappoint me.
