How do, a simple question for you fine folks, which of the following horror masks do you think is best?

Tricky - aye, the plan is to use one in a short film, so I figured I'd ask you folks which one was best out of the two, and aye Trickster, you posted a link to that site a few weeks back and I checked them out (ta muchly for the heads up).

I'll have to make a final decision sooner rather than later, but I see that the Groundbreaker is doing well. :)

Groundbreaker.

Is this Zombieman's replacement for IAZM3?

I actually like "Flesh Eater" better. I think it has something to do with the scraggly dead hair, so if you were to tweak the "Groundbreaker" by adding some hair it may look perfecto!

2nd Tarman?

I've not seen ROTLD2 in ages, so might have forgotten...

Groundbreaker.

Is this Zombieman's replacement for IAZM3?

hehe, ah ya got me bassman - tis indeed a replacement mask for Zombie Man. I'm operating at the moment thinking we might be able to get IAZM3 shot sometime soon perhaps, and as I want to make it capable of standing on it's own feet (so seeing IAZM 1 and 2 isn't compulsory), and wanting to make it look more spiffing, then aye - I'm looking for a new mask.

Also gonna get some latex undead gloves for his hands ... I had considered an entire body costume, but not wanting to spend too much cash (money is slow flowing at the moment, plus Xmas is upon us) I'm gonna stick with the traditional Zombie Man jeans and hoody, but incorporate a new mask and hands.

Groundbreaker.

The Groundbreaker is certainly popular - it's also the one out of the two that would be easier to re-use in another film, thus getting more for my money out of it.

...

So - seeing as you now know that I'm seeking to get the new mask to be the new, more kick arse quality, face of Zombie Man - does this make anyone think differently?

How do folk feel about Zombie Man's face changing in general?

For reference, this is what Zombie Man originally looked like:

You know, I'm gonna say Flesh Eater. Sure the Groundbreaker looks more serious but I think the Flesh Eater suits IAZM3's comic style much more. Plus it has a dirty shit eating grin on it's face. :D

While I think groudbreaker is cool, you will get more mileage out of Flesh Eater in terms of look and vibe for IAZM3, With the right camera angles, Flesh Eater is not only truly got a horror thing going, but since the decomposition or Zombie Man is sort of taking place, Flesh Eater is better

Just my 2 cents

The "Groundbreaker" does have a bit of hair on it, but not long straggly hair - the latter being better visually I think. The latter also has a bit of moss growth on the skull apparently. You can just about make it out in the picture.

Interesting, "flesh eater" is now gaining fans - perhaps to do with the reveal that it'd be the new face of Zombie Man...

Indeed, this is the thing, the former looks nastier in general - but as such is less comical - the latter is more comical and closer to Zombie Man's original look anyway - but is a bit less nasty.

Wanting the third Zombie Man film to go out with a bang though, makes me flirt closer with "flesh eater", I have to say...

The script is finalised, and I'll be recording the dialogue soon - hopefully we really can pull it off this time, so everybody hold their breath in a baited, finger-crossing manner ... but don't jinx us. :shifty:

There's also the issue of gloves, to give him some skanky-ass looking decomposing hands, the choices are:

Jason Gloves:

http://www.dangerzone-collectibles.com/images/shop/more/240_1182629293JasonHandsWebsiteMarked.jpg
(Mid-range price, in stock, cool looking, the glove effect perhaps hides the added bulk better than below?)

Zombie Hands:

*Another view of them in use can be seen here - http://www.dangerzone-collectibles.com/products/details/428.html
(Look great, go part-way up the arm, seemingly temporarily out of stock, most expensive of the three, but perhaps seem a bit too chunky - as glimpsed at in the alternate view I linked too.)

Or - Ghoul Hands:

http://www.thelaughingstock.co.uk/acatalog/4994.jpg
(Cheapest of the three, but come from another website - meaning two doses of shipping & handling and dealing with two stores, temporarily out of stock, still look cool though, perhaps appear thinner on the hands?)

Dont expect much from the hair it comes with though dude, as awesome as my Dr Tongue mask is, it certainly didnt have the hair shown in the picture on the site, it was quite obviously quickly pasted on with glue in a production line, fine for halloween but if i'd actually being using it for a film shot I would definitely have had to modify it

See, this is the biggest problem with shopping online for such items, and not having such a shop anywhere remotely close to your abode to actually see these things in person.

Gotta jump in with both feet eventually though. I see that the "groundbreaker" is currently out of stock, but the "flesh eater" is in stock ... a further push towards the latter then I guess...

Any thoughts on the hands I posted about a couple of posts back, folks?

And thats getting more & more common these days, its hard to find any such items in shops anymore as they've all switched to distribution warehouses for online shoppers! There used to be a really good horror mask shop in Whitby not far from me that was like an aladdins cave, I tried to find it before I went shopping online for halloween but its vanished now :( my local Forbidden Planet stores have gone over the past few years as well which I always used to like having a look round, im sure they still exist in the big cities though.

As for the hands, hard to say really, they look a bit thick & will probably glisten with plastickyness, but decent make up for hands would be hard to do I guess!

I'd probably end up going for the Jason Gloves methinks ... that or the ghoul hands ... but I'm thinking the Jason hands.

As for the mask, my only main reservation about the Flesh Eater one is that I assume it's not a full-necked piece, unlike the Groundbreaker, which has a full neck and even part of a chest piece.

That was one thing I really wanted to avoid, any neck/jaw line as I'd had before...

*sigh*

Who'd have thought this would be such a troubling purchase? Or perhaps it's my picky character... :p

You friends with anybody at a local college or theatre, or even a hairdresser? Those that do hair had to have gone to cosmetology school and may know a little bit about make-up. Give them the job for the hands. I mean even a simple basic layer of colors might do the job and no latex would even be needed.
Or just have the actor put on a few disposable gloves to raise the surface between the flesh below. It will also start to bunch and look bloated, then dip the gloved hand in a deep bucket of liquid latex, let it drain off some and dry. Then paint it and whatever else you like.
That liquid or foam latex always looks better than a manufactured hand when up close. If the action being filmed is far away then detail is not too important and a mask or prop hand will do.

A tad on the in-depth side for this production perhaps ... but anyway, it'll be filmed more at a distance anyway with a lot of post-production colouring going on. Any close ups will be fleeting, as-per-the-script.

I did have a further question though - can anyone recommend:

1) A good (house hold?) product to use to 'de-gloss' the mask if necessary - say for instance if it was a bit on the shiny side, what would I use to take the shine off?

2) A good (house hold?) product to use to 'moisten' any chosen details - like to make specific parts of the rotted gloves/mask look moist? A thick, jelly-like substance that won't drip, or dry out too fast.

(As we'd be filming in someone else's newly re-decorated house, it'd be a bad move to get fake blood anywhere if it wasn't absolutely necessary to use it).
