what's the problem? as long as she's been cleared by a doctor to play, let her play.

I'm of two minds on this, certainly it's her right to play, but vollyball is a rough sport, not as rough as say football but still rough. What happens if she gets elbowed or falls and miscarries? Will they sue the school?

There's more than one side to consider.

It's her choice, I suppose.

I hate to be the morbid one here, but in the back of her mind she may be hoping for something to happen. She is 17 after all. She might not agree with abortion, but if something out of her control happens she can continue being a kid and live with a clear conscience.

Just sayin....

I couldn't even finish the article. And I sure as shit couldn't sit through the video. Why is this news worthy?

That's the problem with the media. Its too busy turning every personal decision into a three ring circus to actually serve a purpose anymore.

That's almost certainly already done. Schools don't let their students play for them unless they sign one. Kids who get hurt playing intramural sports are pretty common and if everyone sued, well, you know...

It's sort of like citizens can't sue the armny core of engineers for building shoddy levees in Louisiana even though it led to countless deaths.

yep. high school sports are a "play at own risk" sort of thing. the only way parents can really sue is if the coach has been abusive or negligent. this case is a good example of when you can sue:

other than that, you break a leg or get paralyzed playing high school sports, it's on you, not the school district.

She's way too young to be playing volleyball
