A Twilighter in Chicago was arrested at a screening of New Moon for apparently videotaping the movie.

Oddly enough, she never actually videotaped ANY part of the movie, with the exception of some ads before the flick!

Turns out the 22-year-old took her sister out to celebrate her 29th birthday and snapped some pictures in their seats with their new camera before the film started.

As the lights dimmed, the woman started fiddling with the camera, still unfamiliar as to how it worked. A manager caught sight of this and immediately called the police.

The cops arrested her, charged her with a felony, and threw her in jail for two days facing charges of a hefty fine or possibly spending up to three years in prison!

So what ended up on the camera? Just FOUR minutes of recording which included commercials, the woman's conversation with her family, and NO FOOTAGE of the movie.

The woman insists she had no intention of filming the movie and that she was just trying to work her new camera. Furthermore, when she used the camera in the theater to take pictures and record a video of the family singing "Happy Birthday", the usher never warned her not to use the camera.

Obviously, she plans to fight the charges in court.

i was in the theater like 3 months ago and someone was snapping pics left and right with a flash and some how they couldnt find the person even after people pointed out where it was. i'd sue these bitches

Overzealousness...
If people made movies that had some kind of actual CONTENT, this wouldn't even be a problem. You'd still see it and, good heavens, maybe even buy it on dvd.
This movie sucked enough donkey balls to not warrant any kind of supervision as far as I'm concerned.
Who cares if they filmed anything there. There are enough bastards who run the theater who record the shit well b4 it comes out...
Anarchy reigns.

And sometimes they fiddle with the reels and insert a second or half-second of footage from some other film... like a porno.

dont know how it is over there, but around here cinemas take the lowest rungs of the ladder, they take people that places like mcdonalds and kfc turn away. all you get is gormless stares when you ask about times, and more often than not the wrong tickets and drinks from them. My brother, who aint the sharpest knife in the draw, got a job at one and was the manager two weeks later because he was the only one who could count all the money in the safe in less than a day.
Iknow its different for privately owned cinemas but the last of them is in its death throes round here, these tard run multiplexes are king.:(

you find that shocking?, at least mcdonalds requires knowing when a piece of meat is frozen, unlike cinema hotdogs, also, one job checks for basic hygiene.

its not the cinemas that does it.

I don't think I've had a decent cinema experience since the death of the drive-in.

Don't worry, I give you my permission to still have sex during the movie. Little riskier & theater seating is not as comfortable as the back seat, but it definitely ups the naughty voyeurism factor.

You guys going to small mom and pop theaters or larger corporate theaters?

The AMC and Regal theaters around here are pretty damn nice and they keep the audiences in check. You still get the occassional douche, but it's not all that bad.

For some reason the title of this thread has me laughing. "Theater people". They're like trolls....

Other than the indy theater in Columbus & a drive-in near Springfield, I don't think there ARE any Mom-n-Pop places ANYWHERE near me...

I know a lot of people report horrible experiences anymore, but every time I go everything is 100% upscale. But I only go a couple times a year anymore, to a theater in a upscale neighborhood, to matinee showings, so maybe I'm just playin' the odds...?

It all depends on the theatre and alot of it has to do with the company as well. I was an assistant manager for Regal Entertainment Group (Regal Cinemas) back in college and the year after college (three years). Our theatre is one of the flagship Regal's, located three miles from the Regal Entertainment Group corporate offices. Needless to say, with the president of the company and VP's and VIP's coming in all the time, we ran an extremely tight ship. I was actually proud of my theatre, and part of the reason I worked there as long as I did was because of the enjoyment I had in working with the folks that I worked with there (mostly, God knows it wasn't the money). However, we also have some Carmike Cinemas in town, and, unfortunately, Carmike's theatres (at least aorund here) are absolutely filthy and disgusting. So, really, it's just a matter of where the theatre is located and the management staff as well. If you have an awesome person like me, it can make a big difference.

I can't remember the last time I went to go see a movie at a theatre though since leaving Regal back in 2005. The only reason I went then was because we could see the flicks for free. Wait, yes I can, it was "Zombieland" with my dad -- previous to that it was probably "The Happening" by M. Night Shyamalan. I do Netflix, so for me the idea of having to spend $10 to go see a movie at a theatre when I get it on Netflix for approximately $1.65 for each movie I watch in a month on my $40 a month plan on my 50" plasma in the comfort of my apartment without any loud kids or headache (and save $10 bucks) is far superior of an experience for me.
