The game features Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Martin Sheen ("The West Wing", "Apocalypse Now"), 2009 Emmy Award-winner Shohreh Aghdashloo ("House of Saddam"), comedic actor Seth Green ("Austin Powers"), "Chuck" stars Yvonne Strahovski and Adam Baldwin, Keith David ("Crash") and sci-fi favorites Michael Dorn ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"), Tricia Helfer ("Battlestar Galactica"), Michael Hogan ("Battlestar Galactica") and Carrie-Anne Moss ("The Matrix").

It's also been confirmed as a 2-disk game on both PC and 360, probably due to all the VO work.

Mine looks like paul sr. from american chopper, only imagine that buzzcut blonde and the handlebar tash ginger, did it as a joke but it actually stuck, which just makes me see the sheppard in the trailer and go "sheppards got a stash, that aint him!"

Oh God..my Biotic Shepperd was the ugliest thing i have ever seen, orange hair, pure white skin, cheek bones up to his eyes (which were almost to the other side of his face), tiny mouth with no lips, handle bar moustache (blonde) big scar across his face...no forehead...

He remained single throughout that playthrough..but my soldier on the other hand was a manly man with short brown hair, stubble, huge chin...damn...time to play again.

Female Shepard is the only way to play, I mean it's the Little Mermaid for god's sake. The voice actor for the male version is horrible, sounds like a text-to-speech computer program.

The only 3 I've been able to get into since 2003 Are the 2 Kotors ( Nevermind shenmue, Where the fuck is that sequel at!?!) and Oblivion.

I was kinda put off by the first game and didn't get far into it at all. Hopefully they have addressed the original's issues so i can stick it out all the way through.

I will admit though, the inventory in ME was beyond ridiculous. the items weren't even stackable, so you would have to shift through 10 goddamn cyro rounds x, and then 16 cryo rounds xi. And 90% of the weapons were useless, and were never used. Same goes for armour. I am glad the inventory system is more refined now, should make things better.

If you want people to dig your product rule number one should be accessability. You shouldn't have to take classes in order to navigate a game's inventory system.

BIOWARE’S MASS EFFECT 2 HAILED AS 1st BLOCKBUSTER OF 2010

Game Earns Rave Reviews, Sells 2Million Units in Week One

Guildford, UK (January 29, 2010) – Forty perfect scores. Two million units. One pop culture phenomenon. BioWare™, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), announced today that Mass Effect™ 2 has sold-in over two million units worldwide in its first week of release. Lauded for its intense shooter gameplay and deep, hand-crafted story, Mass Effect 2 has earned an average review score of 96** — making it the second highest rated game of all time on the Xbox 360 platform***. Mass Effect 2 has earned 40 perfect scores, amassed over 30 editor’s choice awards and is donning the front cover of 20 magazines worldwide. On launch day, the term “Mass Effect” was in the top 10 trending topics on Twitter and most searched on Google News. MSNBC.com said, “Mass Effect will go down as one of the most influential video game series of all-time.”

Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder, BioWare and Group General Manager of the RPG/MMO Group of EA said, “Mass Effect 2 is poised to be one of the biggest games of 2010. We could not be more proud of the game’s universal acclaim and early commercial success.”

Mass Effect 2 launched this week hot on the heels of BioWare’s Dragon Age: Origins, the studio’s dark fantasy RPG which shipped in fall 2009. Dragon Age: Origins has earned an average review score of 91****, making it the highest rated original intellectual property from EA in the last year. Mass Effect 2 follows in BioWare’s tradition of delivering excellence on every front: gameplay, story, character development and visuals. Mass Effect 2 is an epic shooter/RPG set in a vast universe filled with dangerous alien life and mysterious, uncharted planets. In Mass Effect 2, players step into the role of the heroic Commander Shepard, leading a crew of some of the most dangerous operatives from across the galaxy on a mission so challenging that it’s potentially suicidal. Featuring intense action, a rich storyline, space exploration and engaging character interaction, Mass Effect 2 delivers an unparalleled gaming experience.

Mass Effect 2 is available for the Xbox 360 and the PC and is 15 by the BBFC. For more information, follow the development team on Twitter at http://twitter.com/masseffect2 or visit the game’s official UK website at http://getmasseffect.ea.com.

Mass Effect had it's share of problems; clunky combat controls, the majority of the Mako driving missions, and repetitive environments were among the worst offenders. The universe and characters Bioware created is what made me finish it multiple times.

The second game is much more streamlined in terms of exploration and combat. Instead the constant nag of an overarching story, this game is primarily about you and your squad. Every planet you land on feels unique, and they axed the Mako sections in favor of Gears of War style action set pieces. Definitely a step up in terms of keeping your attention for long periods. The combat engine has seen a huge upgrade, too.

Although you don't need to play the first game to enjoy it, one of the biggest selling points of ME2 is carrying your Shepard over and seeing the fruits or consequences of your actions. How far did you get, fulci? The game opens up pretty slowly, but once you get off the Citadel the game picks up pace, and you'll eventually be treated to one of the best game finales in recent memory.

So i finished this game yesterday. Beat it on insanity, kept everyoen alive during the suicide mission, everyoen was loyal, and I had all ship upgrades/most of the crew/weapon upgrades. Also romanced Tali, make of that what you will.

Favourite Characters-

Garrus, Tali, Mordin

Favourite Loyalty mission-

Mordin, Tali, Grunt

I was honestly surprised by how well the new characters were. I didn't expect much from Grunt of Subject zero, but by God, They turned out to be very well written, and acted. Mordins VA deserves much credit as well. From the "scientist Salarian" song, to the conversation he has during his loyalty mission wehre he actually considers that being part of the Genophage project was ethically wrong, and doubts his previous actions upon finding a dead female Krogan, he shows just how well the actor is.

It was actually sad to read and listen to that convo with him, and It still stands out to me as my favourite moment of the game. Grunts Loyalty quest was just awesome. You can head butt a Krogan ffs, and if you kept Wrex alive during ME 1 (you're a loser if you got him killed) you are greeted to a warm welcome from him, that will seriously cause you to grin from ear to ear. I couldn't help, it just felt awesome to watch him come up to me and go "Shepard! My friend!". Killing the thresher Maw was great as well.

Talis loyalty mission was pretty cool, and was more an exercise in either your paragon, or renegade score, but when you arrive on the Aleri, and find Her dead father, you cannot help but feel terrible for her, and once again, the actress that does Talis voice did a great job with that scene.

The entire game was amazing, I don't think I have been this involved in a storyline, or game before in my life. It is just wonderful, the universe that bioware has created. I eagerly await ME3, and cannot wait to see how the storyline ends..even if I will be a little sad that we won't see anymore of Shepard after that.

finished it yesterday and loved it, just like 6 achievements left so you do pretty much a lot of it in one playthrough, was like 35+ hours though so im not complaining. first time through the omega 4 relay i lost thane and the toolbag merc. romanced tali because her character was adorable compared to the other females who were some kind of sci-fi space hooker steriotype. beat every boss with a fully upgraded collector particle rifle.

not even the children were spared.

Some free armor and weapon DLC hitting today:

BioWare has sent word that gamers taking a break from hitting on Miranda will be able to get the new Cerberus Assault Armor and M-22a Eviscerator Shotgun DLC for free through the Cerberus network within Mass Effect 2. The content should be available for all fans, both on PC and Xbox 360, at 12:00pm Mountain Standard Time. Here’s a description:

Cerberus Assault Armor

Cerberus assault armor is designed for shock troops, turn the tide of battle against creatures or forces that would decimate normal soldiers.
Increases heavy weapon ammo capacity by +10%
Increases shields by +10%
Increases health by +10%

M-22a Eviscerator Shotgun

The M-22a Eviscerator Shotgun is a longer-range shotgun with armor-piercing loads. This design also violates several intergalactic weapons treaties, so the M-22a is not distributed to militaries.

It is a bit of a mixed bag really.

Zaeed is pretty much mandatory. Does massive damage when you fully upgrade him, and uses assault rifles and sniper rifles. He is pretty much the biggest damage dealer on your team, and his inferno grenade special ability is pretty great. Him and grunt in your team are pretty much unstoppable, as grunt just never dies, and zaeed murders the hell out of anything.

The firewalker pack is alright I guess. It isn't great by any stretch, and is only 5 missions. But hey, free.

Never used the down loadable armours, as i prefer customizing the basic one. The extra weapons that you get with some of them are pretty okay as well I guess. If you run a soldier you will hardly use any assault rifle other then the revenant once you get it, as it is the best by miles. You get it about half way through the main story.

never used arc projector, as I only really use the missile launcher, grenade launcher, and the particle beam.

some of the DLC is free as it was already in the game, but removed due to time constraints, is relitively small (armor or weapons), or is just showing biowares love for us peons.

Don't bother with the appearance pack, as it doesn't do anything other then unlock a new outfit for Garrus, Jack and Thane.

Kasumi is a little different, as the pack introduces a new character, a new loyalty mission, and a ton of dialogue for said character. She is similar to Zaeed in that you don't actually converse with her, so much as you listen to her talk and tell stories by interacting with her, or by interacting with objects in her room. I've heard nothing but good things about the new character however, so it may be worth looking into.

I am still debating whether or not the free dlc we have recieved from bioware is actually worth the cost of the Cerberus network (for those that paid the 1200 ms points for the thing anyways) as of yet. Well, besides Zaeed of course. Everything else is sort of dull, or is just never used. I never bothered with the Cerberus assault armour, the shotgun, or the arc projector, and as I said before, I was pretty bored by the Firewalker pack.

But hey, those things are free, so you may as well get them, and try them out for yourself.

be an indecisive cock like me and make a spellsword type. pistols, shotguns and lots of biotic powers.;) -picking up machine guns at the start of mass effect 2's import stages. seriously. snipers rifles aint worth shit. you can use the best armour and you are so manly even femshep could shit a beard that would make father odin proud.
