Any fans on here then? Ive never really followed them closely, but liked enough of their songs to warrant getting tickets to see them next month! From what ive heard & from the videos on youtube, im in for a treat with their stage show  anyone been to one of their live performances before?

Never seen them live, but have been listening to them for a while now.

Got their latest album a couple of months ago, which is spiffing (gotta love "Pussy", even more-so as the video is essentially pornography ... in fact it is pornography  - directed by Jonas Ackerlund, the chap who did that movie "Spun" and a whole bunch of music videos).

While I've got no idea what they're singing about, and am too lazy to Google it all up, I just enjoy them for their sound, which is awesome sauce.

That must have some power in it live!only problem is all the standing tickets were sold out so we're sat on the balcony, will still be good but I normally spend gigs down the front in the mixer!

Rammstein always put on a good show. I was gonna go to The Prodigy at the National Bowl later this year but they are asking a serious pisstake price.

Yeah im not a huge metal head either, im one of these who just likes what I likes, from hard house dance music to AC/DC, 70's rock,80's punk & 50's blues & 90's indie  definitely no pop or modern RnB in my music tastes though *spits*

What was the asking price dude? my ticket for Bridlington spa was £32, which is steep enough, but the advantage is that its a small intimate venue, probably about 2000 people in there, so getting up close to the band & stepping back when you've had enough isnt really a problem!

I didn't mind paying 40 quid when they did the Brixton Academy all nighter. That's only 5000 capacity, and you get a good view. The asking price at the National Bowl is 52 quid with booking fee. Fuck that! 52 quid to see ants!!!

I first got a dose of them in that 90's flick Lost Highway by David Lynch, still can't figure that movie out though.
I could care less what the translation is, it's the hard pulsing industrial groove that get's your attention.
I will always crank the volume and blast the car speakers if and when "Du hast" comes on.

You're thinking of Sonne.

Mein Teil is another song of their's that is awesome though, as is the majority of the rest of their stuff. I rather dig Rammstein, a band I've been getting into gradually over the years, then kinda forgetting about, then returning to a bit, then forgetting about a bit, until the release of their new album (and a bit before when I went back over some of their other albums - e.g. Reise Reise, and prior) last year and then I was back into them in a big way, and got myself the Reise Reise follow-up Rosenrot (2005), which for an album that's essentially off-cuts of the 2004 Reise Reise, is actually rather spiffing (save for one or two tracks that are a bit naff).

I too found a different musical sound after my uni days, but I've since been coming back around to harder stuff again, but also mix it up with various other styles - my main new attraction of recent years being shoegaze.

Rammstein's awesome, your so lucky that you get to see them! They haven't come to the States forever...sucks for us American fans. I've been listening to them since I started German in seventh grade...now that I understand more of of the lyrics I have to admit they creep me out a little more than they used to. But they still rock. You'll have to post about how the show was, I'd like to hear about it. Have fun!

Well I forgot to do a write up on this! Ive been to a fair few gigs in my time but the show Rammstein put on was easily the best spectacle ive seen! There was huge flamethrowers, a guy set on fire on stage by Till Lindemann using a petrol pump! Flake the keyboardist was thrown in a coffin type thing, then Till rose up on a platform above him holding like a large stainless milk urn while still singing, which he then tipped over into the coffin, pouring a waterfall of fireworks into it!there was some explosions & then flake jumped out wearing nothing but glittery trousers, and he then did a weird dance all over the stage!
During one song they got the huge dildo out which Till rode on up & down the stage spraying white foam all over the crowd  and there was a part where they put flake in a rubber dingy & sent him sailing across the crowd from the front of the stadium to the back, then back again, halfway across he held up a union jack flag which got a huge cheer from everyone! Aside from the explosive stage show the music was spot on too, they went through all the crowd pleasers like Feuer Frei, Benzin, Du Hast, Links 2 3 4, Ich Will, Engel, Pussy, Rammstein, basically the list capn posted, awesome stuff!
I took some videos on my phone which came out well but I was stood quite back so il post these instead, identical show but performed in Berlin a month or so previous, filmed by someone with a decent camera :)

That is the limit of what I know about Rammstein. Are they named after the airforce base?

Nevermind I'll wiki the answer...Ahhhhh:

Rammstein takes their name indirectly from the German town of Ramstein-Miesenbach, the site of a flight show disaster on 28 August 1988. The band's signature song, "Rammstein", is a commemoration of the disaster. In a short period before the band became well known, they performed using the name "Rammstein-Flugschau" (literally meaning "Rammstein-Airshow").

'tis not my cup of tea. i have never cared for the "industrial" sound.
