So help me understand something (those of you who know it far, far better than me).

In Ep. 3 when Yoda and Palpatine are fighting, the fight ends when Yoda grabs his jacket and just leaves. He just leaves without finishing the fight. I've never understood this. Did he think that he would lose and the hope of the survivors would be lost as well? Why did he just "walk away"? Likewise, Palpatine could have chased after him but instead just contented himself on giving that cackling laugh.

So, what's up with that?

j.p.

George Lucas had too much creative control, that is what is up with the 3 new star wars movies, and the new 3d tv show.

Basically even the CGI characters realised the scripts were so shitty and that it was ruining an otherwise great series of films, so he just fucked off before the end.

The reason it doesn't make sense to you is because it doesn't make sense and the whole film is only one long turd of digital shit that George Lucas took after some really bad burritos.

Being a serious fan of the original trilogy... I'm inclined to agree with the above posts, probably especially evilned. I do think Yoda was afraid of losing, and... Palpatine was... insane, for some unknown reason... at that particular moment.

Instead of giving one of the expected "george lucas sux!" answers, all I can say is that Yoda was being beaten. The darkside was too strong with Palpatine and Yoda couldn't defeat him by himself. At least that's the way I saw it.

Exactly! As for Palpitate... perhaps had more pressing matters at hand, and probably felt like "ah ha! he's running from me! ME!! I kick ass! Bwa ha ha!" Y'know, bad-guy stuff.

the simplest answer is that yoda determined that it was a stand off and that he could do no better than a draw with the emperor. in that case breaking off contact and withdrawing is the smart thing to do.

No, the simplest answer is that the film sucks balls. The rest is just speculation.
