looks like one of the last barriers to producing energy from fusion has been solved and later this year the NIF (national ignition facility) is going to take the final step toward fusing a fuel pellet of deuterium. fusion research has been advancing by leaps and bounds in the last few years as problem after problem has been solved. it is now a very real possibility that a working fusion reactor is in our very near future.

if ever there was a solution to the world's energy problems, this is it.

I wish I could be involved some how. Facinating stuff and a lot of money for the people who crack the code for fusion.
