Don't worry about it, Clangers. I'm a limey and a Whovian, and I don't get it either. :D

How can you not get it?

that was the whole line in that story.

'your song is coming to and end'

'he will knock 4 times ' and the Doctor will die.

It was assummed the Master/his heartbeats
were the 4 knocks and when he was destroyed the
Dr thought he had beaten it

but noooo...the old bastard went into the radiation chamber
and knocked on the glass 4 times to get the Drs attention.
The old man didnt know what he had done.
The door to let him out couldnt be opened without the one
next to it being opened at the same time, one person enters
one person exits. only the chamber was full of deadly radiation.

So in order to save the old man the Dr had to open the
other door and step inside so the old man could leave and he
then got exposed to the raditation and it caused his death/regeneration.

so when the Dr was lying on the ground and heard the 4 knocks
and looked over and saw the situation and what it meant it was like
'oh fuck me u gotta be kidding'.

one of the better regenerations, similar to when 3rd Dr Pertwee
regenerated to 4th Dr Tom Baker due to absorbing the deadly radiation
from the blue cave on Metabelis 3 (geek alert).

Probably the 2 worst regenerations were Tom Bakers into
Peter Davidson, falling off a telescope platform seemed hardly
fitting for the longest serving most popular Doctor.
And of course Colin Baker to Sly McCoy by falling off an
exercise bike onto the floor of the TARDIS.
That was due to the fact that Colin was fired and refused
to film a proper final episode for his Doctor so Mc Coy put on a
blond wig and...well nothing more need be said.

Tenth Planet remains the best. Hartnell into Troughton.
Great story, Cybermen, First Regeneration.
History in the making and they didnt even know it.

I thought Colin Baker's TARDIS was shot down by the Rani and he was presumably electrocuted by a control panel or thrown on his head or something during the resulting crash. I don't remember an exercise bike in that shot, although I might be wrong.

The final episode of Tenth Planet is one of the missing eps, isn't it? Only the scene of the regeneration survived because it was shown on Blue Peter haha

He did hit his head on the Tardis console
but he was riding an exercise bike when the Rani attacked.

That was just a horrible time in Dr Who history.
