Spent the last week compositing this. It's not hollywood quality lol, but I had fun making it...let me know your thoughts...:)

That's really cool, dude.

Is this a test for a larger project?

Does the 'Metropolis' mean it's Superman-related?

Tell us more...

nah its not really superman related, I just called it metropolis to disassociate the picture of new york with burning buildings etc... :)
Its just me pissing around really...first thing i've done with sound on it...

Just watched it, sans volume, here at work. Very clean and nice work, SymphonicX!

What apps/programs did you use for this work?

Hey, that was really nicely put together dude - noiiice! :)

How did you put that together and what software did you use? It was like Cloverfield meets Ghostbusters, or at least that's the vibe I felt from it.

shit guys thanks very much!
I used only Adobe After Effects, it's a still image of new york and I was following some tutorial to make smoke trails but I got a bit sidetracked with making the buildings explode and scorching the sky...I also used Premier to put the sound on, which was just royalty free sound fx hehe
thanks for awesome comments tho :)

Yeah I took the jpeg from his smoke trails tutorial and the composites of the fire and debris is from the Action Essentials 2k package - but the smoke trails themselves are mine (ie: the difference between his and mine is that I don't use an Emitter light to produce the smoke) - he also uses optical flares for the "photon" torpedoes which I don't have, so made a spinning bastardised version using lens flares and various spinning shapes...

That is really cool, Symph. I have been playing with a South Park style animation program called Anime Studio Debut 6. Somewhat limited in what it can do, but still fun.

I might have to check that out - sometimes the simplistic animation programs allow you to be totally creative with naratives and stories - something which I'm completely shite at...I can do some small visual effects and graphics etc, and I'm a pretty good editor, but writing something is tough and I never show people my work...but something like that could allow me to write something snappy and achievable whilst not needing to look amazing because it's the content driving it...
