Anyone been playing the demo? I thought the first one was pretty forgettable, but I'm having tons of fun with the sequel. The grappling hook mechanic is what Bionic Commando should have strived for. It also features some of the most beautiful visuals I've seen in an open world game, everything is rich and full of color.

Game Informer recently gave it a 9, some highlights:
* Story weakest link.
* Virtually everything improved over the first.
* Even the most formulaic side missions are fun.
* No penalty for dying outside of missions and checkpoints are generous.
* Can call in a helicopter for extraction to cutdown on travel time.
* Attention to detail is unparalleled and makes open-world games that solely focus on urban environments feel downright mundane.
* 368 locations to discover and explore.
* Until you upgrade your weapons or get your hands on some heavy-duty firepower, the gunplay feels underwhelming.
* Difficulty later in the game borders on being frustrating.
* No multiplayer a disappointment.
* None of the issues diminish the countless memorable moments Just Cause 2 provides, born out of the spontaneous chaos the player creates while simply exploring the world.
If you liked Crackdown you should check it out. Definitely picking it up on the 23rd.

ive been playing the first one and off, got it for a quid out a bargain bin, and its mindless fun. but ive seen plenty of videos from notorious bugs in this one, like the moon and night sky rising out of the ground like a wall in front of the player and randomly occurring "pitfalls" where the terrain will break and randomly make a circular shape of land plummet down to make a massive empty pit.

I've been playing this demo and have been loving the shit outta it. Didn't really like the first one at all, but this one is what every sandbox game should strive to be, hands down. It's tons of fun attaching cars to the helicopter and swinging them around while flying. Also, the visuals are some of the most stunning I've ever seen - the draw distance alone is mind-bending.

I've been playing the demo non-stop since I downloaded it. Fucking incredible. Trying to sell all of my Rock Band equipment + Rock Band 2 so I can buy this game next week. (Anyone on here interested, by any chance?)

a gta clone based on a cube type island nation where your a secret agent helping a local group of rebels. some pretty janky controls but for its time it looked amazing and the guy has a deployable parachute so you can jump from bonnet to bonnet across a car chase and force a car off a cliff and deploy the shoot to fly around shooting and bass jump onto a speed boat or something. at first glance its a shitty clone but when you get lucky and string the right elements together its pretty damn fun.

Same here, I've put about 10 hours into the demo and I'm still finding new things to do. Nothing quite like taking a helicopter into the stratosphere and then jumping out for a 3 or 4 minute skydive at sunset.
As far as the first Just Cause, I only played it for about 10 minutes at a friends house. The controls turned me off immediately, but I probably should have given them a chance considering they're mostly the same (albeit fine-tuned) in JC2.

I had it on CraigsList. A guy just offered me $80. :thumbsup: Just Cause 2 is only $60, so that gives me some extra cash for beer or something.

Yep, sold the Rock Band stuff last night for $80 to a local guy that turned out to be a drug dealer. Thankfully I'm going camping for this whole weekend, so I'll only have Monday to be super anxious (JC2 comes out Tuesday). :hyper::hyper::hyper:

Just found out you can paint a moustache and glasses on the corrupt dictator's road signs :lol:. Just grapple near his face and hit the action button:

This game is looking more and more like a buy with every post.
It looks fun as hell. And imo, that's sorely missing from most games today.

I picked it up yesterday and played for about 3 hours. I'm not going to get into a huge detailed review like Hellsing does, because I simply can't be arsed. ;)
I will say, though, that this is one of the most fun games I've played in a very long time. The opening bit was great, it just drops you right into some heavy action.
The size of the map is jaw-dropping. I flew a very fast jet over the shoreline of less than half the map and it took probably close to 15 minutes! So awesome! Never have I seen such a huge, varied, map in a game. Supposedly, due to the maps largeness, there are some great easter-eggs scattered throughout.
There was more I wanted to write but all this talk has got me needing to go play it.

My favorite part about the game has been the island of Panau itself. I found myself Rocky IV-climbing to the highest mountain, finding something at the top that casually lets the player know that there are 300 more collectables (100 per faction) on top of the vehicle, armor and weapon upgrades scattered throughout the island. This one's gonna take a looooong time to get anywhere near 100% completion.

Hm, a jet propelled parachute, aye? Sounds pretty awesome. Hopefully I've got 160 MS points just sitting in my account.
I've put close to 40 hours into this game and I'm still not even 40% done!
