I'm not sure if this belongs in the Lounge or not...

www.votematch.org.uk

Basically, you answer all the statements as well as you can and it tells you at the end which British parties' policies you agree the most with.

I got:

Lib Dems: 61%
Greens: 54%
UKIP: 49%
Cons: 43%
BNP: 43%
Labour: 39%

Quite random that I apparently agree with the dreaded British Nazi Party on more "issues" than Labour :rockbrow:

theres a number of those sites out there to answer questions to judge "which party is for you" and almost every one has been proven to have one of the parties behind it or the owners of the site skew the answers and results a certain way.

Honestly all you can trust is your gut and your own opinion really, almost every bloody thing has an angle your not seeing this year.

@hellsing: on the site it says this:
The aim of the tool is to raise awareness about the policy differences between political parties standing in an election and encourage people to vote.
The statements are devised by an independent academic panel based in the politics department of Goldsmiths University of London.
The political parties themselves fill out the answers to the statements.
The project is politically neutral and has an Advisory Board chaired by Sam Younger, former chair of the Electoral Commission.

pinch of salt maybe?

I quite like to indulge this - I know who I'm going to vote for and on my hierachy the BNP do not match up at all - let's see what the site says:

Party
UK Independence Party: 57%
Liberal Democrats: 56%
Conservative Party: 55%
British National Party: 52%
Labour Party: 32%
Green Party: 28%

Hahahaha that was awesome. I think the first few questions I was warming up on. Just for the record I am SO not voting UKIP.

I've been having this thought which I think is relevant to this thread and doesn't deserve it's own post....

Basically if all three party leaders had the world's worst policy idea (take your pick really) and there was a massive public outrage over it (think, ID cards or something) - of all the three leaders of the main parties, who do you think most likely to cut his losses and change the policy? Who do you think would turn around and admit there was a problem, and change it?

I can't see Cameron or Brown doing that - I can't really see Clegg doing it either but he's far more likely...

I can never seem to get a clear-cut result on these. Damn near wound up with a 3-way tie:

1. British National Party - 60%
2. Conservative Party - 58%
3. UK Independence Party - 57%

All three within 3 points, and nothing else was listed.

I'm not even British, but I took this just for the hell of it...

Conservative Party: 68%
UK Independence Party: 65%
British National Party: 61%
Labour Party: 40%
Liberal Democrats: 38%
Green Party: 22%

Eh, from what I know about the different British political parties, this seems about accurate to me as an assessment if I were to be British and vote. Fun quiz though, it's interesting to compare and contrast the parties here in the U.S. and with our Brit cousins.

j.p.

Just logged in after an hour or two. The top three threads are related to British politics. Golly people, sort it out! This is a zombie forum, and that's coming from a fucking Brit.

I think that'll change after this evening :)

Anyway I've never heard a Brit say "golly" so I'm suspicious of your nationality...LOL :D

That's the same as the one from the Telegraph that I linked to in the General Election Topic a couple of weeks ago. My results:

For me, the Tories, UKIP, and BNP all came out pretty close at around 60%. Lib Dems were a distant fourth, followed by Labour and then the Greens. Of course, that all has to be taken with a large grain of salt because I'm not British so I had to guess at a number of the questions. :P
