I am so glad I go to see DIO open for Iron Maiden, and Heaven and Hell headline Locobazooka.
Seriously, this is the biggest possible loss metal could EVER face from a single person. This is easily on the level of Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, and John Lennon in terms of just HOW important this man is, although DIO was around quite before them. His first band was in the late 50's.

RIP, Dio. I love the scene where he comes to life in the poster in Pick of Destiny.

Ugggh. This shit sucks. I was devastated when I found out. Even more so devastated when a few people around me spewed insults such as "Who cares?" and "He ruined Sabbath."
He was the best Sabbath singer, to me. Beat the shit outta Ozzy. Also my favorite Rainbow singer. So glad I got to see both DIO and Heaven & Hell.
RIP Ronnie James!!! :(

Sad beyond words. I thought he was doing great after his chemo and all, at least that's what I was getting from Wendy Dio's comments she would post once in a while about his progress.
Talk about a massive loss to the metal world. :( :( :(

Dio was the first concert I ever attended, back in '87.
I didn't even know he was dealin' with the big C.
Let's raise our horns in tribute to our fallen hero.

We've lost a lot of good people over the past ten years or so. Paul Baloff, Chuck Schuldiner, Dimebag, Pete Steele a month ago, and now this.

Wow, lot of lavish praise for this guy from various quarters. I couldn't have told you who he was in the 80s, but I was not one for music at that time and didn't really know what a DIO was till some time in the 90s.

this is seriously the rock equivalent of tupac. HUGE piece of the world missing now. he was so vocal about what was on his mind and his voice was killer.
check out the bone yard if u have sat radio, about twice an hour they play the beginning of holy diver and while thats going basically list a few of the bands he was in then play one of his songs

By all accounts, the guy was a living saint. I've been listening to a lot of his music today, still so damn rockin.

Not sure if this actually happened....... I try to avoid news articles about these idiots, but......
The Westboro Baptist church was planning to "protest" Dio's funeral. they are the "God hates fags" morons from Kansas.

I'm posting this not out of disrespect (far from it) but I think even RJD would get a kick out of this. :D
