The 2-disc version looks alot like Land's dvd cover. The regular version feature's O'Flynn's zombified daughter with hungry hordes behind her. Both look pretty good. Personally, I like the Japanese movie poster best.
Now...if only something could be done to impove the actual movie.

Unfortunately, both versions are rated R. Looks like those hoping for more gore (me included) are sure to be disappointed.

Coming from the ground, no less. At least you could let the Land cover slide because it looked like the hand was torn off by the fence.

It's funny considering there's never been a zombie coming from the ground in Romero's films. Unless you count the arm under the pile of rocks in Day...

That cover art is borderline misleading. The UK artwork is much truer to the spirit of the movie. Regardless of what anyone thinks of the film (I really like it, not everyone else does), you're just setting people up to dislike it if you pretend it's something different to what it actually is.

Yeah, I don't even really mind the Land cover, but there's been sooo many in a similar vein.

The best cover of this movie was Charlie Adlards version.

So far the special features don't sound that great, aside from the Romero commentary.

Agreed.
So Rotten Tomatoes reviewed Survival, and disliked it. But those guys are preps, so who cares.

that one is cool - way better than that sterotypical hand. But I too prefer the 1970 exploitation poster look of the euro dvd cover art.

What about Nathan Graham in "Creepshow"? ;)

I like both the girl one and the hand one.

I agree they both give me a different expectation than the movie fulfills.

I was thinking more about his Dead films, but yeah he did have one in Creepshow.

It's just strange that they continue to use the arm coming from the ground when he's never done it. I know it's often associated with the genre, but it's definitely not Romero. It's like people saying "Brains!" when discussing Romero's work. Ugh...

The 'dead hand' thing needs to stop. It's a tired image now ... they need something better ... the 'zombie crowd shot' is also fast becoming a tired image.

I thought the painted illustration on the cover of the R2 DVD was spiffing though - we need more painted covers (like Arrow are doing on a lot of DVD releases these days of horror classics). A painted interpretation is far better than some photoshop jobby.

Yes! I really liked the slipcase art from the UK version. Reminded me of older horror movies.

Have they EVER liked anything? All of the reviews on that site I have read were like they were written by the people that Jay and Silent Bob went after at the end of Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back.

Adlard's is is by far the most superior IMO. I love the retro feel. its almost like the art work you would see on an 80's VHS tape.
