During the time of the Yorkshire Ripper's murders (over here in the UK) in the 70s/80s, some hoax tapes/letters were sent to police which actually lead them away from the true murderer.

Over 20+ years later the culprit was found!

there is another story about ye olde ripper out today. he's been denied release. it looks like he's going down for the long count.

Yeh, it was that news that made me read about Sutcliffe, and then found out about the discovery of who Wearside Jack was...
