The world is dead. Millions of flesh-hungry zombies roam the land, seeking out the last survivors. Buddy, a pregnant Julie, Mickey, Gwen and Bear are refugees from Eden, seeking a better place. Along the way they face adversaries living and dead, and befriend new survivors, whose sole hope lies is the complete annihilation of the undead. Yet none suspects that the true threat lies within their ranks. The only chance humanity has is a total war--a crusade--against the zombie hordes. In a war of the living versus the dead, the stakes are high and only one side can emerge victorious!

"[EDEN is] one one of the best zombie novels out there."

Has anyone here read Eden, and if so, can you provide your take on it quality and concept-wise in an overview?

I've stared at the Product Details/Synopsis of Eden almost every time I visit Amazon trolling for a promising new zombie novel, yet I remain undecided and on the fence about this one.

BTW, its very cool that a lot of these classic survival horror/zombie novels are getting sequels. We've already got Day by Day Armageddon: Beyond Exile, Morningstar Strain Pt. 2: Thunder and Ashes, Walking with the Dead (sequel to the very cool Twilight of the Dead), and now Eden 2.

Best of all, we still have Empire 2 on the way. (Sue me, I think the concept of the Grim Reaper getting aggravated enough to resign his ancient position so he can roll up his sleeves and scythe zombies as a primary occupation is extremely cool, and if for no other reason I'd love Empire/Empire 2 for how Dave Dunwoody finally gave us a cool and very workable methodology/aesthetic/system which explains "The Bub Factor" Romero is so fond of throwing at us from his pulpit.)

Combined with the earlier success of the Autumn series, the Monster Island/Nation/Planet series, and the Reign/Twilight of the Dead + its sequel, the Initially Free-to-Download e-book business model has proven to be a great success in this genre. That's awesome, because IMO we need all the authors & script-writers with this sort of conceptual innovative mindset we can get, if for no other reason than keeping the genre alive through the current shit-storm of endlessly derivative and/or hideous, agonizingly executed Z-grade wastes of firm violating our poor eyes, physical and mental.

And hey, we need many more well-written stories of humanity somehow fighting its way back from the brink to reclaim their land/homes/civilization & society from the zombie hordes. WWZ gave me a taste for it. Now I want to see a fully executed, start-to-finish war for all the marbles versus the masses of the living dead.

Looking forward to reading the new D.b.D Armageddon book.

Edit/Musing: I wonder how long it will be before someone manages to craft something like a more expansive-in-scope sort of interstellar zombie apocalypse of which the game/short film Deadspace is all about? Not necessarily my primary/favored sub-genre, but it would be cool to see a confederation of planets colonized by humans trying to cope with such a classic monster-outbreak/evil plague.
