However, to put it in context, a guy who modelled himself on, say, movie gangsters and spent most of his time getting in fights, having sex with prostitutes, dealing drugs, flashing money around, etc. would invoke a pretty much similar response from me.

The girl has built her life around an asinine, mostly destructive, gender stereotype. I am reacting against that stereotype and her decision to become that stereotype.
