Finally some news on this game. The 1st was suprisingly kick ass. Imo, you could have put a generic character in batman's role and that game still would have been awesome. Yes, it had it's flaws but I have high hopes for this one.

Carlos...you just made my morning, brother.:D

We knew the sequel was coming, but it's nice to finally get a title and a few details. And YES....Batman:Arkham Asylum is one of my all time favorite games. I love it that much. Then again, I'm also a huge batman fan so that makes me a bit biased. Regardless of my love for the franchise, it was a very fun game on it's own merits.

Actor Mark Hamill confirmed it us in an interview last May he'll be reprising his role as the voice of Joker for the game for the last time ever. "This will be my last, there's no question about that," he said. "But it's the last hurrah."

Bullshit. Hamill's been doing the Joker for almost 20 years and he's always saying how it's his favorite role. I would bet he'll be doing this character until he physically can't anymore...

And the original teaser in case anyone missed it:

More details from the new gameinformer:

- Sharp took credit for getting the Joker situation under control
- Sharp used that incident to help win the election
- He then declares Blackgate and Arkham unfit
- Sharp buys off a portion of the slums of Gotham
- He walls off the area, calls it Arkham City
- Sharp contracts a mercenary group named Tyger into defending the walls
- Prisoners given one rule: “Don’t try to escape”
- Penalty is death
- Prisoners free to do anything besides that within
- People who look into Hugo Strange disappear
- A year has taken place
- Two-Face is admitted into Arkham City
- Two-Face realizes he needs to make a move to assert himself in the prison so that he won’t be eaten alive
- He captures Catwoman, thinking that a public execution would help out his situation
- Devs. want a highly detailed city
- Can use gadgets while fighting
- Example of this: Putting explosive gel on the back of an enemy
- A lot of the super villains have formed gangs, have control of different areas in the city
- Devs hoping to use more of the “forensics” angle from the first title, incorporate puzzles in them that will get more complex as you progress
- Most of the key gadgets unlocked late in the original are immediately available, but it seems it hasn’t been confirmed that all of them will
- Explosive gel, line launcher confirmed to be available by default
- Interrogations instead of Riddler maps now
- Press a button and Batman will taunt enemies
- Optional sidestories for some characters, including Zsasz
- New costume for Harley
- Broadcast analyzer: Mainly used so that Batman can listen to a message from the Joker
- There are several broadcasts Bats can listen to, including the GCPD dispatch and Gotham FM
- Orcacle is missing
- Because of this, Alfred is the one in Bruce’s ear
- Rocksteady not talking about multiplayer plans yet

Game Informer quote about Harley’s costume:

“Instead of a nurse outfit, Harley now wears red and black pants, and a matching midriff-baring top. Her face paint has been scaled back to a much more subtle degree, and she now has a Joker tatoo on one of her hips peeking out over her waistband.”

Good stuff coop.

The game already kick ass. Al they need to do is brush up a a few things here and there.

I know it's a Batman game and he's supposed to be the world's greatest dectective an all but more forensics? I don't know about that, atleast for me anyway.

Imo, most gamer's nowdays find it annoying to get stuck at a certain juncture in a game and have to find some obscure clue to proceed. It could definitely slow the game down to a point were it's not even fun anymore.

Back in the day when i played the first couple of tomb raiders that kind of thing was common, to get stuck in a room and be there for an hour trying to figure out what to do next.

Gamers just don't have the patience for that nowdays.

I absolutely loved the detective side of Arkham Asylum. It was a nice change of pace from the generic fights that occur every ten minutes. I loved the game, but the fights with thugs became just a wee bit repetitive.

And Harley better look good. I think she was the first video game character to give me wood.

Sounds like a lot of fun, but i cannot imagine batman being cool with killing unarmed prisoners in his city.

Good point. I didn't consider that....

Then again, explosives were also used to collapse huge chunks of concrete debris onto the thugs in the first game. Did they survive?:shifty: Batman isn't supposed to kill....

I'll never forget the work he did on the X-men in the early to mid 90's. It was magical. It was so far ahead of any of the artists that marvel had at the time with the exception of McFarlane and maybe one or two others.

It's been rumored that he could be the main baddie in TDKR, but I don't think this is really any sort of indication of that. Although they're both Batman, these games and Nolan's movies aren't related.

I would certainly be interested in Nolan's version of Strange, though! :)

Yeah, Conroy and Hamill are both returning for the sequel. Hamill says it will be his last time voicing The Joker, but I doubt it.

Speaking of voices....does Hugo Strange not sound like Christopher Lee?

I can't wait for this game to come out, but I have to say that the image on the video before it plays makes it look like Batman is holding a S&M version of the kid from Ico.

I really hope that the game has some completely random enemy encounters. Ones that don't actually have anything to do with the plot, but just sort of Easter Eggs. I mean, the plot is that an entire section of the city has been blocked off for the Arkham inmates, right? That means that C and D list villains like the Cavalier, Film Freak, Cluemaster, and Cornelius Stirk are running around out there somewhere. It would be extremely cool to bump into them from time to time for a short fight.

They are replacing Sorkin with a soundalike who is doing a bad job from the latest trailer and the guy who stood in for Christopher Lee in the Clone wars animated films is voicing strange, luckily he is very good at what he does. I only found out that it wasnt lee by research, perfect voicing.

Finally picked this up over the weekend. As I had hoped, it totally lives up the high standard set by the first game. I've only just defeated Freeze, but man i'm loving how many characters/villains they've squeezed into this game. As others have mentioned, the side missions are equally as fun as the main story and keep me busy most of the time.

Currently at work and dying to get back home to play some more. Until then, I'll just read Batman comics while at work.
