Any vintage Playboy collectors here?

In the house I'm currently rehabbing I found around 40-50 issues of Playboy, ranging from 1960 through 1983. One issue is even some "special edition" in this white leather-like binding.

I'm way too tired right now to go through them and list exactly what issues I have, but I will.

Does anyone here collect these? Any interest in purchasing them or any idea of what I could possibly get for them if I decide to part with them?

I'm not a collector, but I inherited a huge stack of them when my grandfather died. Some of them date pretty far back into the 60's/

Articles in the 80s were quite good, actually. Not a reason to get Playboy, but another thing about them to enjoy. I actually have had occasion to look back at some of my old playboys (go figure! Not a collector, though) and I do say that the articles back in the day (especially the 80s) were great.

Actually, there's a review of an early Stooges/Alice Cooper concert in the issue I mentioned. The author referred to them as "The latest contestants for Rock and Roll's 'Queen of the Hop" award. Yikes..

So yeah, I did read the articles. Got to find out what was really going on while I was done cooking...

It was more of a joke, really. The articles can be very entertaining, but anyone that says they get the magazine for that alone are obviously lying to themselves. They just wanna see some titties and are too embarassed to admit it.:p

I remember going into an old bookstore in Hay one time when I was about 12 and they had a whole room of magazines, with a great big section for old Playboys. Man, if I could have shop-lifted one of those somehow I would have, haha. When I was 12 porn was hard to come by ... no pun intended. :p

On another weird note, I do have a subscription to Playboy, and have since I was around 25. My mother-in-law of all people was the one who initially subscribed for me, and I've just renewed every year since.

Contrary to what most say about the old saying, I actually do indeed read the articles, but the boobs are a kick-ass side-note to every story! :D

Anyway, retorting to what Bassman said: Anyone who actually bought Playboy to jerk off is a sucker. Especially back in the 60s/70s... there were BARELY any women in the issues. Seriously. It was mostly [very lengthy] articles and a couple of pictures of a chick or two. While flipping through some of the issues all I could see were walls of text.

I love the photography in Playboy but don't think I've ever read any articles! I hear they're pretty good though.

I have this book, which is very very cool if you like "tasteful", creative and technically excellent glamour photography (I wouldn't really call any of it adult):

Some of the best photographers in the world have contributed to Playboy, e.g. Helmut Newton and Bob Carlos-Clarke.
