saw this link on kotaku about an upcoming rpg with zombies. sounds like the game of my dreams: no retarded super-zombies (*cough*left4dead*cough*), a focus on survival and shelters, team-mates, food gathering missions, human drama, raiders, etc.
seems very promising, i'm pumped about this and i just heard about it...not coming out till at least 2011, but they're some screenshots and an interview. very interesting read. worth a look:

I skimmed through the article but didn't notice if there is mention on whether or not this will be coming to consoles. I doubt it, which stinks. :(

Man, I was hoping this thread either had to do with a new PNP rpg product or a play by post game. Still, this does sound promising.

well, the link was to a pc gaming site, so for now, that's the only format scheduled, i'd imagine. if it's as good as it sounds, i may look into the whole pc-gaming thing....using my television and a usb-adapted 360 controller, of course. but yeah, i'm still holding out hope for a console release as well.

Looked amazingly promising until this:
"The Combat system will be turn-based"
Well that's fucking pointless for a game based on headshots.
They got everything else right in theory though so it's worth a look. But turn based combat? ffs.

PC gaming or not this is good for the genre which is never a bad thing.
Even if I can't play it I'm not gonna hate. My fingers are crossed.

ahh I neglected to notice the so far PC only spec.
Which even with my machine of pure power and beef (22.6ghz x2 quad xeons and 128gb of ram) I still can't be arsed to play it. PC games not for me whatsoever.
A shame because they've got a massively brilliant idea which they've probably stolen straight from this board - either way it sounds brilliant on paper - just wait til it turns out to look like Rollercoaster Tycoon lol

this game is still on my radar, and since i've recently got a new laptop and they say you won't need a super-computer to run this, i imagine i'll be picking it up. won't be out this year, sadly.

What the fuck is wrong with turn based games?!?!? I love me some turned based fights. It is the way all good roleplaying games are. Either turned based or leaning in that direction.

its weird cos I have never played the final fantasy games but people have told me that certain installments are literally about running from Point A to Point B and then watching the action unfold. There couldn't be anything more boring in my eyes. It's like playing Top Trumps - yeah you've got the fast car, but it's still a shitty laminated card and doesn't go fast or look cool or function whatsoever....
Turn based combat feels like that to me - eye candy with no interactivity....I want my fights to be 100% random and throw up moments that are unexpected - turn based combat destroys randomness.

I don't thing Final Fantasy when I think turn based. I think Baldurs Gate. . . I think KOTOR. . . .where you can issue commands on pause and then let the action play out, pausing when you need to make changes. The best turn based games gave you the options.

Looks like a modern X-Com or Jagged Alliance type game with zombies.
