As for me...

The extremely beautiful Marble City (Knoxville), Tennessee. Truly nestled in the "valley" here in Knox Co. in the metro area only 30 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains. I'm from Knoxville but not a Knoxvillian as I live in the county (we have a city government and a county government -- two mayors, two councils, it's entertaining). She's a truly beautiful city and I can honestly say I don't really have any interest in living anywhere else as this is truly home. Home is home, no matter where you go or how long you live somewhere else. The Knox metro is about 600,000 people and there's always something to do around here.

I lived in Duluth (Gwinnett Co.), Georgia which was part of the metro-Atlanta (go from downtown Atlanta and head north up I-85 for 30 miles) for a little over a year from around April 2007 - June 2008. Georgia is a great place and so is Tennessee -- but Atlanta is its own little world. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I had a great opportunity to experience tons of people from very unique cultures and perspectives which was really rewarding. The whole time I was gone though I really missed my home and when I was given an opportunity to come back to Knoxville for a new career opportunity I jumped at it.

You know, anymore I don't even really care for traveling anymore. Some people prefer to go to far away lands and experience all the world "out there". I just don't have any interest really. Everything I really need is here at home for me. The three places I really travel to are work, home, and my little honkytonk bar that I love. A vacation for me is instead of going to work I can hang out at my bar for the day instead. And there's always unique people that come in from all over the world I can meet there. My home is where my heart lies though -- I'm a Tennessean through-and-through and it's good enough for a simple person like me.

i came from a stork.

the stork dropped me off in a small town on the illinois/indiana border in southern illinois. not a lot going on there. lots of farms and fields, a few large oil reserves that provide plenty of jobs for laborers. got in a bunch of trouble there, wised up and joined the service. did some time in the Marines, was in cali for about 1/2 a year (didn't get much liberty or chance to explore) and then lived in north carolina on the atlantic ocean for about 3 years. traveled far away to iraq for 7 months, moved back to southern illinois when i left the military.

currently residing on the other side of the state, in south western illinois, about 20 minutes from stl. 1/2 a semester away from getting my 4-year degree. that's me and where i'm from in a nutshell.

I came from Walthamstow, London.

Not content with being second only to Tower Hamlets as the worst area in London - the borough of Waltham Forest is over run with scum class benefit scroungers and social outcasts. Having grown up there (I moved aged 19), I have seen and heard of some pretty amazing things in my time.

Here are a few:

One guy I used to go to school with kidnapped a war veteran and held him hostage for two days.
20 people from my area and my local school were involved directly in the "liquid bomb" plot - which is the reason why you all can't take liquids on an aircraft anymore.
A friend of mine got chased into an alleyway by a guy brandishing a machette.
A classroom was set on fire next door to us as we were learning.
A craft design teacher had just found out about his wife's terminal cancer and as a reward was beaten up in an alleyway by some school kids.

Aside from these wonderful delights they are blessed with the longest market in Europe - which used to be fantastic, a proper east london street market - now it's the perfect place if you want to get your phone unlocked, or if you want to get your phone unlocked. If you were looking for clothes, fruit, veg, music, films, toys, books, games, ornaments, handmade furniture or anything else like that, you should find somewhere else, preferably in upmarket Richmond or something.

East 17, the band, famously rose to super stardom - for about two mins, then they disappeared off the face of the earth and no one has ever given a shit about them.

Chas and Dave performed on top of the famous pie and mash shop on the high street.

Eastenders is based on this location. Eastenders is nothing like this place.

Fantastic place to live.

What the Fuck is the Interwebs?

"The Interwebs is a communication tool used the world over where people can come together to bitch about movies and share pornography with one another."

Ah, Deej & Lou - the Gary Klar/Joe Pilato Show of HPOTD...:D

But moving along,

I'm from Milwaukee Wisconsin ("A Great Place on a Great Lake'), specificly a little neighborhood called Riverwest.

We're nestled North of Downtown, South of the near suburbs, West of the University, Lake Michigan, the "fashionable East Side" (and the Mlwaukee River - duh), and just East of the "Inner City". We get all types.

It's an oasis of artists, musicians, hepcats, good dive bars, funky local shops, freaks, geeks, familes and students. (Cheap Rent, too) We're not only proud of our diversity, we're smug about it. There's just enough street crime to keep the suburban lookey-loos from cramping our style, but it's actually quite safe if you use your Urban Survival Skills.

Seriously, most of my friends and the places we like to go are in a 4-5 block walk from my front door. Sometimes I forget that the reat of the world ain't this lucky. I try not to get provincial, but like JD, I really love where I'm at and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Ok, ok.. I'll try and get things back on track... :shifty:

Born & raised in a suburb 20-25 miles outside of Baltimore, Maryland that shall remain nameless to protect the guilty. :D

While I personally hate it here in this state, I've been here my whole 39 years so far. I would, however, prefer to move to an "M" state: Minnesota, Massachusettes, Maine, Michigan.... anything would be better than this crappy, overpopulated state.

Well, I was born on a Canadian military base in Lahr Germany, Then moved to Oromocto, New Brunswick a few weeks later. Lived there for a few years, then moved to Shilo Manitoba, then moved to Chalk River Ontario, then back to Shilo, then back to Chalk River, then finally moved to Pembroke Ontario, where I am now currently. Military family, so moved around alot, an the switching back and forth between shilo and chalk river was because of family issues.

Yep, lots of fun.

I'm from a village in the coastal area of East Yorkshire (UK) called "burton agnes", but hopefully moving away from the area once I get a new job. It was great growing up round here, but theres very little for a party loving adult who also wants a decent paying job around here, hence why I travel the length & breadth of the country on weekends looking for good nights out & adventures
