Sounds like a clog of some sort. Have you tried the regular household stuff like Liquid Plumer & the like, or stronger stuff from the hardware? Only other suggestion would be get yourself a plumbers snake from the hardware (usually around $20-ish?) & snake the pipes out.

Turn off the water supply to the toilet (it's a big knob down by the floor on the right side of the toilet, generally). That way when you attempt to flush, it's not going to cause water to rise in the bowl.

I was going to suggest an M-80 or a stick of dynamite, but I thought better of it.

Nah, fuck it, get a stick of dynamite, light it, then flush. The water will be SURE to leave the bowl at that point. Just make sure you leave the room quickly. :D

Worst case scenario, you may need a refresher course on how to use the terlet.

Let the Japanese show you how!

Don't think drano is a good idea for toilets. Have you tried the plunger? It us:elol:ually will work. Snaking it out might be a last resort, but a lot more messy than the plunger. Snaking might require you to remove the toilet itself so you can get to the line -assuming that the trap isn't the problem. Give the plunger a try brother.

Gotta be careful with Drano since it can produce some really toxic fumes that can get caught in the toilet trap - also the chemicals produce heat that apparently can crack the porcelain.

Yeah, as long as there's no MAJOR clog, it'll clear out. It definitely won't rise with the valve shut off, though. That way you can plunge without making a mess, if need be.

Use a wire coat hanger with the end bent into a small hook.
