did anyone else read sonys statement stating that gta4 not bein exclusive to the ps3 wont affect sales. they also stated they were pretty happy with e3.
doesnt look good for sony . all the gta's on the ps2 sold more systems than any other game. take about being over confident and stupid. the curse of a three-peat for a successful console is gonna happen.

Sony are losers, they're just going the way of Sega. Their writer drives (PC) are now untrustworthy and don't work. UMD is a disaster. PSP isn't exactly hot property these days, it goes on and on.
Interestingly, there's a videogame show on Bravo here in the UK called GamerTV and they had a segment on Sony cocking up the PS3. They made no mention of Sony's arrogance though, that's one of the major things for me, they're just so cocksure and so smug that they truly believe they're the greatest. The loss of GTA exclusivity will certainly crush their sales, no diggity no doubt.
As for the GamerTV list of cock ups, their number one was the original E3 showing of "this is what PS3 games will look like" - when in fact (like I ALWAYS said) it was just pre-rendered CGI video made by professional CGI companies, yet everyone took it as that's what the PS3 game catalogue will actually look like - because Sony sure as hell didn't make the fact that it wasn't real, obvious.
They're just a bunch of chumps and they've really hurt themselves over this one, I'll be sticking with the 360 ... when I can afford it. At least Microsoft are trying to find where their market needs to be (in the West anyway, Nintendo holds onto the East easily), what new things they can come up with and they have a good range of games. If only I had some money, I'd get my ass a 360 with Dead Rising and PGR3. Oh if only...

I really don't listen and read interviews coming from department honchos and executives from all the console makers. All they spout are spin and PR control. Now those in the industry whose job it is to write articles and research the products being sold I trust abit more. And from the talk from technicians, developers and reporters whose job it is to critique all the new consoles, the PS3 is one of the most bad-mouthed systems still to be released. If it weren't for the intractable fanboys who live and die with whatever Sony gives them the PS3 would get even more badpress.

lol @ Gamesville. A videogame show with black "geezers" just doesn't work, talking all "bo!" about a pastime considered only for geeks. As for GamerTV, I saw it on TV around 10am or 11am, perhaps at the weekend. I think they've cut down on how much they show it - perhaps until they do a new series and then it'll come back.
But "When Games Attack!" was much better, we need more of that show, took me right back to the good old days of Games Master - now THOSE were the days.

one thing i'm curious about.
microsoft broke the news about GTA4 being a non sony exclusive. but they also stated thet GTA4 for 360 would have add on downloads, and later episodic content available through xbox live.
the question is has sony indicated if they're going to offer this as well? as far as i know they've haven't mentioned it.

I haven't heard anything about that either. Maybe MS paid Rockstar a little something for the rights to the DLC & episodic content to be available through Xbox Live.
I frequent the TeamXbox forums. If I see anything there about this I'll post it here.

word thanky.
I'm expecting Sony to eventually put it out as either downloadable or as an addon disc. but the fact they haven't made mention of it intrigues me.
more and more it's beccoming concrete that the P$3 is being shoved out the door this november whether it's ready or not.

I don't think Sony would be able to put out any downloadable content that first gets released on Xbox Live. The exclusive contract signed between Rockstar and MS is not time-based which means it will only be for the 360 and just the 360, or PC if the game is released there as well.
If Sony does get some sort of download content as well then it will be different in every way from what MS paid for. I think Rockstar signing this exclusive contract with MS for future download content shows how much confidence they have for the Xbox Live to distribute the content and how little they have for Sony's answer to Live.

ok, i did not know that rockstar was contracted to produce it for XBL specficly. that pretty much answers my question then.
thanks.

same could be said for all gta games on the ps2. if anything it wil be limited time exclusive.

If Sony was unwilling to fork over a couple million dollars to keep GTA as a time-exclusive franchise, I highly doubt they would fork over millions to just have download content available. Really, I can't see Sony having download content unless Rockstar themselves announces it. Which brings me back to Sony's answer to Xbox Live which many publishers and developers still haven't heard much about.
Really, its not even what content the PS3 will have or not have that's ****ing me off to the point I will break my streak of getting a new console on Day One. Sony seems to think that because of the PS2 and brand name recognition people should forgo worrying about the high price of the console and the fact that what was promised at the 2005 E3 is not what's going to be in the PS3.

I think the "Grand Theft Auto" games are beginning to run out of decades to base the games in....
What's the next one? "Grand Theft Auto: Jamestown" ?

i think the next one will be either 2006 or 1966 only not in enlgand like the ps-one version.

I'd like to see GTA in the 1970s, just think, they could lampoon the fashions, the porn scene, all sorts. It'd be wicked. They've done the 60s, 80s, 90s and 00s, so they're missing the 70s.
Vice City was the best one I'd say, good story, drenched in "Scarface" cool, great colours, music, style, it was oh so good. While I've really enjoyed San Andreas, I felt it was a bit bloated and the heart of the game wasn't as good as Vice City, which was a classic.
Perhaps it could be set over a few decades following a much broader story? Hmmm ... no doubt Rockstar have already made up their mind, it's at times like these I wished I worked for those guys, hehe.
