With movable walls and a single door that can only be reached by draw bridge, this house (http://all-that-is-interesting.com/post/4956385434/the-first-zombie-proof-house)stakes it's claim as the world's first zombie proof house.

I dunno about that roll-up door. A few hundred fist banging on that mother might make you put a gun in your mouth and eat a bullet.

I considered the noise as well. Surely if they went through all this trouble they would have installed shatter-proof and sound-proof window panes?
I doubt many zombies would get over the concrete wall around the property, anyway...

lol That statement brings T. Sean Collins's story from World War Z to mind. The zombie fortress ruined by other survivors trying to get away from all the madness.
"Contact, contact, southwest corner....shit, there's hundreds of them!" It was a damn big house, it took me a few minutes to get to my firing position. I didn't understand why the lookout was so nervous. So what if there were a couple hundred. They'd never get over the wall. Then I heard him shout "They're running! Holy fuckin' shit, they're fast!" Fast zombies, that turned my gut. If they could run, they could climb, if they could climb, maybe they could think, if they could think....now I was scared.
"There it is!" I heard them shout. "That's the house on the news!" They were carrying ladders, guns, babies. A couple of them had these heavy satchels strapped to their backs. They were booking it for the front gate, big tough steel that was supposed to stop a thousand ghouls. The explosion tore them right off their hinges, sent them flipping inot the house like giant ninja stars.

That is absolutely awesome.
For my money though, if I had the money for it, I wouldn't be so interested in an above-ground location anyway so much as installing a massive underground bomb-shelter and still having an aesthetically attractive (read: not concrete looking) above ground house.
Isn't the simple and easiest way as far as "zombie-proofing" a house just to not have windows on the ground floor with the addition of secure doors?

I think the only thing that can be said is:
They've done it! The perfect zombie-proof domicile at last. Nothing else to say on the matter, I guess.
Sets mood lighting to "on", shifts coach to most advantageous angle, draws blinds, fluffs cushions, grabs freshly popped popcorn and settles in...

http://i.imgur.com/mKUKb.jpgDon't see how that works!? How does building (a) turn into building (b)?
Especially as it seems it's a different building or angle at least?

The walls move. There are more pictures in the link that can give you a better idea of how it works.
Also, the two pictures I posted are of different sides of the house.

Pretty darn cool if you ask me.

It's pretty cool, but also pretty visible. Underground is best, so as to stay inconspicuous. Survivors can at times be more dangerous than the undead threat.

I'm sure that warning will appear in the small print somewhere along the way :p

It would be nice to know where about the house is located regarding cities and towns. Or maybe more photos. Judging by the few provided, it looks like the house may be in a fairly secluded area, so that would quickly cut down on both the zombie AND human threat. Hell....if this guy went through this much trouble and cash to get a "safe" house, you can probably bet that his driveway is three miles long, up a rugged terrain, gates every half mile, and a hidden entrance.

If you had a zombie-proof house like this would you be advertising exactly where the location of your place was?
I wonder if the place is air-proofed too for biological/chemical weapons. And if that's lead it could be a safeguard from radiation poisoning as as well in the event of a nuclear incident.

I don't mean they should have given out the exact address of the house....just a few photos to show what immediately surrounds it. We can see the back section is a large wooded area, but i'm just curious if this thing is right off the street or way back in the woods where it would be harder to find...

Lead is a pretty soft metal I really doubt it is lead.
As for above ground versus underground bunkers/bases. It is a double edge sword really. If you are in the ground and there is a breach the zombies spill in like there is a flood, if you are above ground (as in raised) you are more easily seen. There is more of course but just two that immediately come to mind.

Lead is a pretty soft metal I really doubt it is lead.
Not to mention heavy and toxic. The exterior is concrete. I could imagine putting a layer of lead in the core of the walls though. And I agree with Mr. Clean, the roll-up door is the weak point of the design, other than that it's pretty sweet.

It could be improved of course, but it's a cracking attempt...good to see people taking the zombie threat seriously. ;)

I like the idea of a zombie apocalypse happening plainly cus its THE ultimate test on human survival, but i seriously think that its just pure fiction. an outbreak cant happen, sadly. theres far too many factors against it.
