Current discussion is about five threads down from yours. :)

Suit looks fine to me. Other than the honeycomb look of the fabric, that is.

I just wish it wasn't Zack Snyder.... He's a hack! :( plus they will never better the first two Christopher Reeves movies...

Normally I would agree with you, but I have high hopes for this one for one simple reason: Christopher Nolan. Snyder's always been poor in the story department, but his visuals are fantastic. So combine those with Nolan's story? It could turn out to be one of the greats. Nolan knows how to handle his characters, so I doubt it will be that far off the mark.

One thing's for sure - It will deliver more of the action set pieces people were missing in Superman Returns. I like SR, but I can't wait to see Supes and Zod duke it out on the streets of Metropolis.

With regards to the costume, a traditional blue and red cape ensem is gonna be hard to pull off. The materials look okay, but that textured spandex/rubberized look always looks better with a more muted color palette, I think.

This is a very good point. I don't have too much patience for a re-grouting of the Superman origin story, but if that's what they aim to do (I have only been paying so much attention to this project) then Nolan could quite possibly deliver.

Shit shit shit sorry guys, I got so upset that I automatically made a new thread, I should have added this to the Superman/Snyder thread instead. Feel free to merge, delete, send me death threats etc...

As for the costume, it's awful. Look at that S symbol. UGH. I don't mind dull colours, or that textured fabric, but I very much HATE that S, I HATE his look facially, everything about it just sucks balls.

There's nothing heroic, or powerful, or righteous about him in this photo - take one look at Reeve as Superman and you can see someone who has these qualities. Just one photo, of Superman standing with hands on hips, says more about the culture of this much loved character than this newly released photo could ever ever hope to achieve. Look into Chris Reeve's eyes - not a hint of smarmy self love in there.

A real shame.

I hate Snyder. I loved Spartacus (series) and only recently saw 300 - which is obvioulsy it's stylistic brother - and oh my God. Take Snyder out of the equation, keep the visuals, and get better script writers and you end up with Spartacus. 300 was piss poor, boring, badly written. And yes I know it came from a Moore comic and I'm sure the dialogue was copied exactly - works with Watchmen, doesn't work with 300. Hated every frame.

Watchmen seems to be the only watchable film I've seen of his. 300, Sucker Punch (what??), Yawn04....oh my god....this guy is slowly stealing the thrones of M. Night Shyamalan and Uwe Boll.

300 won the AVN award for best gay porn film of 2007*.

I agree and totally understand what you're saying, but you've got to consider one thing - They've purposely TRIED to steer clear of that. After Singer's shot with Superman Returns and attempting to bring back that noble "boy scout" Superman, now they're trying to go in a more action-oriented badass kind of direction. Of course Supes will still have those great qualities that the character requires(again, Nolan won't let that be forgotten), but that's not the first image of the character they want to be put out there. They want something with him in action. Breaking shit and ready to tear into the villain. Something that says this will be the "new" superman, rather than a re-hash of Donner's series.

Regarding the actor's 'look' of Superman, I actually think the new picture makes his face look funny. Probably because it's an action pose. If you look at the picture below it almost looks like a totally different guy but just screams Clark/Supes, imo.
