In an effort to get to know all you cats here at HPOTD better, I just wandered if you'd throw down a little info about yourself and your favourite stuff. These don't have to be a top 5 in any order, just 5 things you're really digging on right now.

For Example:
I am a podcaster and blogger from England who currently lives in New York. I also write and record musical albums and compose soundtracks for an independent film company based in the UK.

5 of my fav movies are:
Evil Dead 2
GAR's Day of the Dead
Taxi Driver
Anchorman
The 'Burbs

albums:
Mule Variations - Tom Waits
Travelling Wilbury's Vol.1
American VI: Ain't No Grave - Johnny Cash
The Grand Bounce - Gordon Downie
Into The Wild - Eddie Vedder

Can't wait to hear your stuff! :D

Thanks for the list man, big fan of Dawn of the Dead and Back to the Future 2. These don't have to be top 5 lists though, just 5 things you like at the moment.
I don't do top five ranked lists either, I can barely manage a top 5 I am happy with out of each genre...

I can honestly say I have never heard of or listened to any of those albums though... what a sheltered life I must lead! :)

Still, thanks again sir, good way to get the ball rolling!

I love The Big Lebowski too it would definitely be in my top 10 comedy movies which would put it in running for one of the funniest films, world wide... :D
Clerks is also brilliant

Again I haven't heard or heard of any of those albums. My music taste is so limited to folk, rock, blues, jazz etc. where as my big movie collection covers all genres, all subjects and all styles...

liking these lists!

So hard to do here.
As far as albums, they'd have to be cds I put together of my few faves.
There'd be a self made, extra longplay cd of my fave Duran songs, Billy Idol, Depeche Mode, The Cure, and Adam Ant.

Movies? Hard as well.
Baseketball, Rocketman, Pineapple Express, Your Highness, and... uhhhh...
Torn between Pee Wee and BTTF. Amazing there's no horror in there. I'm in Dallas right now, and don't have access to my collection for perusal. Beetlejuice perhaps?

This is next to impossible for me. With the exception of Ghostbusters being my favorite movie, both lists change from time to time. I'll try one for the time being...

2. Day of the Dead
3. Dawn of the Dead
4. Both Nolan Batman movies
5. Planet of the Apes series

Albums(again....these are just what i've been listening to lately. Not all-time)
1. Sublime With Rome - Yours Truly
2. 311 - Universal Pulse
3. Silverchair - Diorama
4. Oingo Boingo - Farewell Concert
5. Sevendust - Home

These are all such interesting and brilliant lists. Such a wide range of music particularly and some great films. My 5 would change daily definitely and I could never create a definite order but
what's nice is how these lists represent a little snap shot of who we all are.

my gf is not a fan. anytime we are hanging out and a song by them comes on, she complains about "talk-singing", complaining that the vocals ruin the music.

Cake or Beck or both... actually it's all good... used to listen to both at the tale end of Uni and while working in a bar in the early 2000s

Funny you guys mention beck. He's my wife's favorite. Some of it I can dig, but some of it not so much. The more electronic sounding stuff isn't my cup of tea.

I'm not a big fan of her favorite(Beck) and she's not a big fan of mine(311), but we both love Cake. Weird.

12 hits from hell -the misfits

Right on. Dunno if I've said this to you before but, one of my bands is a punk tribute band, primarily focusing on Discharge and The Misfits. MISCHARGE.

Here's a taste... they are incredible:

The movie list is not definitive (with the exception of No.1), but are just films I find inspirational for one reason or another.

Movies:

2. The Naked Gun. (Nice beaver!)
3. Tremors.

5. This Is Spinal Tap.

1: Emperor: In The Nightside Eclipse.
2: Finntroll: Midnattens Widunder.
3: Iron Maiden: Live After Death. (possibly the greatest live album in the whole of human history!)
4: Bal Sagoth: Starfire Burning Upon The Ice Veiled Throne Of Ultima Thule.
5: The Meads Of Asphodel: Exhuming The Grave Of Yeshua.

:D

I'm realllly bad at summarizing what I love into lists, but these are what popped into my head in no particular order:

5 Movies I Happen to love
Jaws
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Rushmore
The Natural
Wall Street

5 Albums I Happen to Love
Living in Clip (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Living_in_Clip), Ani DiFranco
WDST (Woodstock Radio) 20th & 25th Anniversary Live recordings, Various Artists
Mighty Mighty Bosstones Live from the Middle East (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_from_the_Middle_East)

Hey Brother...Can You Spare Me Some Ska, Vol. I, Various Artists

3: Iron Maiden: Live After Death. (possibly the greatest live album in the whole of human history!)

I have an epic live version of Run to the Hills that I got off a promotional sampler CD given away free with some purchase at a Nyack, NY headshop in the early 2000s, I wonder if it's from that album originally. It's lightning in my speakers when I put it on and it's a regular listen for me.

Well those 3 films would definitely be in my top 20 and I once DJ'd in a bar and Run to the Hills packed the place, felt like 300 people all head banging and singing at once :D

It's the only Iron Maiden record that I can actually listen to nowadays. (well, maybe 'Piece of Mind' too).

Hmm, this is tough as hell. Keep in mind these aren't my "top 5" - As Aces put it, "5 Movies I love" (in no particular order):

Movies:
1. Carpenter's The Thing
2. Carpenter's Halloween
3. The Devil's Rejects
4. Dogma
5. House on Haunted Hill (the '99 version)

I have to say, I'm pleased (and surprised) to see so many people list Big Trouble in Little China. How is it everyone I know IRL hates that movie, but everyone I socialize with on the 'net seems to dig it?! WTF?!

Music:
1. Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
2. Porcupine Tree - Deadwing
3. Ozzy - Blizzard & Diary of a Madman (I know it's 2, but I can't seperate 'em)
4. Black Label Society - The Blessed Hellride
5. Steve Vai - Alien Love Secrets

There's way too many bands I could list here, but these are the ones that resonated with me at the moment. It changes from day to day.

Hmmm ... can't do a Top 5 Movies, but my Top 10 movies (from my Top 50 of All Time (http://deadshed.blogspot.com/2009/05/top-50-favourite-movies-ever-part-6.html) - compiled in 2009, which I'll get around to updating this year) in no particular order, are:

Aliens
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Back To The Future
The Dark Knight
Dawn of the Dead (original - of course)
Fight Club
Ghostbusters
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
The Maltese Falcon
Terminator 2

N.B. This Top 10 (and indeed my All-Time Top 50) could/will change sometime soon ... I love a list and I've been meaning to update it with a few deserving titles that I've only viewed since writing the above/linked to list.

...

As for Top 5 Albums ... I've never really considered this before, but five favourite (by no means is this a definitive list ... I take my lists very seriously :D) albums off the top of my head are:

Guns 'n' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
HIM - Razorblade Romance (and indeed Deep Shadows & Brilliant Highlights)
Metallica - The Black Album
Foo Fighters - There Is Nothing Left To Lose
M83 - Before The Dawn Heals Us (but this could very well be replaced by their new double album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming that comes out next month)
