View Full Version : The Rant Thread (aka the HATE thread)

We all have things we hate in life so feel free to post all your little rants here and get them off your chest. I'll start..
i fucking hate bad drivers. Slow drivers, old people, women, learners.. fucking drivers who drive 30mph in a 40mph zone, then slow down to 20mph when they go into a 30 zone. People who stop in the middle of the road for no reason, people who feel they have to give a cyclist so much room that they end up on your side of the road, its a fucking cycle not a bus. People who park by the side of the road at a stupid angle so their cars ass is out across the lane, people who drive past the white lines at a give way and sit blocking your lane because theres traffic built up the other direction. thats what the fucking white lines are there for.
Ooohh i hate, hate, HATE shit drivers. Not that i claim to be a perfect driver but some people just really do not have any common sense behind a wheel at all and it winds me up right up.
Either comment or post your own rants.

Totally agree with that. To take the car thing further, I hate morons who have those MASSIVE speakers in their car and drive around with the volume up to eleven. WTF? Nobody else wants to hear your shitty music. On top of that, nine times out of ten they have a VERY shitty car so it sounds like a huge fucking vibrator flopping down the road with the doors about to rattle off. Of course their favorite thing to do is endlessly circle any and all store parking areas so that everytime I leave the grocery store with my daughter we have to listen to the latest from lil jeezy or some shit while this asshat creeps by us at a snail's pace.
And there can't be only one. There's often a line of these fuckers. All of which look like they haven't slept in three weeks due to their meth addiction...

Boy racers too! they always have the shittest cars like corsa's or saxos and little peugeots and they put these massive exhausts on them and induction kits, aswell as the sound system then drive around. Theres a main road right outside my flat and they drive down it all hours fucking waking me up when i have work
I didnt start this topic just for cars btw, feel free to rant about anything you like, i just picked on bad drivers cuz thats my big gripe at the moment. The Love Thread and The Hate Thread ive seen on several forums i visit and their always immensly popular and fun so just thought id start one off here :)

The opposite side of that coin. . . . .I despise it when people drive below the speed limit on the highway!! Especially in the left lane!!!! What the hell!!!! Take the fucking backroads if you want to sightsee!!! . . . . .sorry. . . got carried away. :o

Annoying as hell, but usually not as dangerous as people who feel the need to drive 85 or 90 in heavy traffic, when the flow of traffic is already over the limit, zagging past vehicles, getting ahead of them and cutting everyone else off and starting a new cascade of break lights and slowdowns for the people behind them.
Selfishness is fine, but selfishness that puts so many other people's lives fairly flagrantly at risk is beyond comprehension for me.

I hate "running lights" on cars - either turn them off cos you look like a twat, or if you can't turn them off, they shouldn't have been invented in the first place. It's a stupid idea, it's distracting, and it's doubly stupid because it's as if someone thought 'if you couldn't see 2 tonnes of Audi coming at you in the middle of the fucking day, these farty little lights will make it stand out' ... what a moronic idea.
Further to that, you now have utter prats putting their side lights on - and this is in any old car that clearly doesn't have automatic lights (that can be turned off fucking easily - my Mum got a new car and as soon as I saw it had those stupid lights I looked in the book and found out how to turn them off - a simple 5 second long push of the light stalk changed the "Auto Lights" mode to OFF/MANUAL like sane people have). It's now stupidly routine to see endless amounts of morons driving along - IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY, AND EVEN WHILE THE SUN IS SHINING DIRECTLY AT THEIR FUCKING CAR - with their fucking lights on.
Volvo should be ashamed of themselves for introducing this stupid idea, and everyone else for following suit, and yet more for dimwittedly acting like sheeple for putting their manual lights on to fit in ... NO ... it's stupid. Indeed, there was a guy the other week driving a Volvo who had his bloody HIGH BEAMS ON - IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY - and I just had enough. I started wildly flashing my lights at him (I was pulled over behind a parked car to let him through the gap in the road) and pointed furiously down towards his lights. WHAT A FUCKING MORON!
...
Another thing - when someone asks you a question, but interrupts you as soon as you start answering - otherwise known as 'the Newsnight effect'.
Also - people who spend their entire lives on their fucking stupid iPhones, especially when you're in a group of friends and you're socialising at the pub and they're just sat there dragging their thumbs over the goddamned Facebook newsfeed.
Back to drivers - indeed, people who speed, and people who dawdle for no good reason. People who break sharply for corners so slight that they're barely possible to consider as bends. People who tailgate you (especially at night or in the rain, as I experienced the other day, from some berk in a Citroen people carrier of all things ... prat), people who don't signal (or don't take the turn that they're signalling for, or just leave their signal flashing for ages), people with loud speakers thumping away, people with bodykits on their shitty cars, people who don't let you overtake a slow vehicle on a dual carriageway (e.g. a tractor, or a caravan, or a truck) ... or people who overtake multiple cars on a normal A (or even B) road - it's fucking selfish and even dangerous - also, trucks who overtake other trucks by going 2mph faster, thus blocking the only other lane on the dual carriageway for everyone, caravanners (who are legally allowed to drive at 50mph max) driving at 75mph (same for horse boxes) ... and a bunch of other twats that I can't think of right now.
I could go on with what I hate, but I'd be here literally all day...:shifty:

i hate people who leave their cars at the gas pumps while they go inside to shop.
i hate anyone on myspace.
i fu*king hate facebook and all the assholes who spend hours worrying about what other people are doing and amassing their 700 friends.
i hate when people tailgate but i don't get pissy about it. i get even. i slow down.
i hate white trash and anyone going around talking about "being played like a bitch."
i hate anyone who cannot graduate from high school.
i hate the entire western side of cincinnati - full of white trash and ignorant ghetto dwellers.
i hate anyone wrapped up in activism, politics, or trying to change the world to suit their personal bullshit.
i hate motherfu*kers who act like your friend and wind up being anything but.

I hate hipsters. Especially faux hipsters. And I especially hate to see them on commericals, which is pretty much all they have on commericals these days. Especially detestable are those douches on that make up that fake band on the free credit report.com commericals. I see that shaggy haired idiot in the glasses doing his stupid hipster poses and I want to punch him out. And that faux hipster freak that is a tom cruise wannabe on the insurance commercial makes me want to break his nose.

Do not even get me started on adverts, rather than be witty or clever or generally informative, advertisers seem to feel the need to create annoying adverts that they somehow think will win people over and i mean they go all out and out to fu*king annoy you. Example..
F_-9QFvhQWo
And it must fu*king work becuase they have been making these adverts for years, people should seriously fu*king boycott these companies until these adverts stop, that isnt even a 1 one off, search youtube for go compare ad's theres hundreds of them. you americans should be down on your knees thanking the merciful god of shit adverts that you dont get this guy over there.

as for advertisements that get under my skin, (iirc, i started a thread solely dedicated to that once), the netflix "bonus round" radio commercials drive me batty.
i refuse to even consider getting a netflix account till they come up with a new advertising campaign and drag this irritating bullshit one out behind the barn and shoot it. the things have been on the radio for fucking years...

10-Sep-2011, 02:54 AM
This is the first i've heard of these annoying Netflix commercials. Regardless of how annoying the advertisements may be, Instant Netflix is THE SH*T! Totally worth the ten bucks a month. Pretty much any movie or show you can think of...
ProfessorChaos
10-Sep-2011, 03:13 AM
i realize that, but i can pretty much do the same thing with a downloading program and save 10 bucks a month.
i tried to find an audio of one, but couldn't and it's really not worth listening to. it's basically set up like some game show and an announcer is asking questions such as "if blood is thicker than water, what's thicker than blood?" , and some moronic sounding doofus gives an off-the-wall answer such as "potato salad". after a few of these irritating and pointless Q&A's, they ask a question about netflix, and then the moron "wins" and they talk about the wonders of netflix.
they've been on various radio stations here in the midwest for literally like the last 4 or 5 years. they never run out of dumb senseless questions, either.

Oh yeah, I heard one of those on the radio this morning.

But yes, I agree, commercials nowadays are, by and large, ("French class!") annoying.

Some of the modern day U.S. military veterans annoy the shit out of me. They seem to think that since they went to Afghanistan or Iraq that they are owed a hand out. Don't get me wrong....I'm a modern day veteran but I don't expect to be just givin a job or a easier path than someone else who hasn't served.
Example....At my Open House for Police Testing...they were explaining benefits and training we would get from the department if we got hired to work for their PD. He said something about being certified to use an AR-15 by the department. Some guy raises his hand and asks if they automatically certified people who had been certified in the military instead of making them do the training. Another time, they were talking about police certifications. The path is a little different for someone who has already been to the academy or certified in a different state. Some other dude asked if military police training would qualify him for that path. Both the answers were no for those wondering.
I feel that a few of the questions were generated to just play the military card.

In relation to hipsters - I can't stand this 'look' that some people strut around in, which is as follows: Skinny jeans/corduroy trousers (for their preposterously stick-like legs), pointy brown shoes (with little heels on them) that add at least 3 inches to the supposed length of their feet, random 'ironic' t-shirts featuring randomly selected phrases picked from random signs found on roads or buildings, over which they were a sport jacket with the sleeves rolled up, and then further up on their self-important bonce they've got one of those Bieber haircuts (or Bieber-like haircuts) ... I was on holiday in Edinburgh recently (during the festival) and there were a whole bunch of these arseholes walking around.
Further to that - Top Man - the male version of Top Shop (a 'trendy' clothing shop we have in the UK) ... I can't stand it. It tries so hard to be 'trendy' and forces everyone buying from it to look like a dimwitted presenter for T4. It creeped me out walking through that place.
As for adverts - yeah, I can't stand those "Go Compare" adverts. They clearly saw that the CompareTheMarket.com adverts (featuring the Meerkats) were very popular and thought 'hey, let's be cooky like they are' ... but instead they made something piss-annoying and won't bloody stop. If anything I'm far less likely to use their service, and while I didn't find CompareTheMarket to be much cop, I enjoy their adverts.
Another series of adverts - those ones featuring that god awful song that goes "Here come the girls!" ... I think it's for Boots or Superdrug or something like that. I FUCKING HATE THOSE ADVERTS AND I DESPISE THAT DREADFUL EXCUSE FOR A SONG!

Maybe so, but my contribution remains - I hate people swearing simply for the sake of it, especially so in conversation, in public. There you are walking along, and a nearby group (of guys normally) throw out F bombs left right and center as if it's a perfectly good way to punctuate every sentence? Really winds me up! Especially when my kids are around! Just comes across chav and needless IMHO.
ps: Not talking about this thread really. Although everyone knows I'm not keep on liberal amounts of unecessary swearing in the forum.

At least you don't have those stupid little things that pop up during the program. Like, "Now: Blah blah blah. Next: Such and such". Sometimes they even have a picture pop up with it that takes up a tenth of the picture! It's like... really stupid, and messes with moments of drama.
Or do you have that? I wouldn't know.

On the children networks my daughter watches, characters from other shows will walk across the screen and stand there for about 30-60 seconds next to the "Up Next!" logo. It takes up about a 1/4 of the screen. Maybe more. If that starts happening on the adult networks I'll just stop watching them...

I hate copious amounts of CGI in films and shows just because it can be done and it's "cheaper". It usually looks like shit and detracts from my enjoyment of a film.
I hate people who put fart cans (or any add on's to the exhaust system of a car) that make any type of sound when someone is driving. If you want a car that makes noise, buy a nice car. Absolutely no one is impressed with your 4-cylinder Honda Accord or Dodge Neon with a fart can driving around. You look like a dumb ass and I'll intentionally drive past you in my 'Vette just out of being pissed off.
99% of remakes. Enough said.
Filmmakers who think blowing things up and having lots of T&A and/or CGI effects make up for weak plot and dialogue and no character development (i.e. the vast majority of what Hollywood makes these days).
Any discussion that includes the phrase "Jersey Shore" in it or anyone who thinks Stephenie Meyer is a good writer.
People who type in .TXT. When you use words like "kewl" and "u" for you (it's three letters, you can't spell it out? Does that take too much energy?) really pisses me off. I absolutely despise .TXT and refuse to use it. It's part of the reason I never use the .TXT feature on a cell phone because I refuse to not type in complete sentences and thoughts. I'm not a 12 year old middle school student, I'm a college educated graduate and I'm not going to type like I'm 12.
Smart phones of any kind. In fact, most cell phones. I can't stand people who are constantly glued to their electronic gadgets of any kind be it a phone or MP3 player or any other type of electronic device. I keep a cell phone out of necessity for work and if I need to speak with someone. Otherwise, I don't have it out.
I'm sure I'll think of more, these are just items off the top of my head.

I'm with Shoot - I hate those friggin' logos (MTV take the piss with their on-screen junk) - if you wanna know what channel you're on, you'll press for Info or Select to bring up the channel info window pop-up thingy ... or you know what, you'll have tuned in specifically, so you'll know the channel you're on!
Now - a good example of how to handle it is Sky Atlantic. I may be utterly fed up of seeing those Blackberry adverts now, but their logo is small, subtle, and after a few seconds into the new part of a show it disappears entirely - that's how to handle a screen logo.
It's such a stupid idea to have a logo on, people can easily find out what channel they're on, or they already know (especially as most channels also have full screen idents prior to programming), and in the days of terrestrial TV we didn't require that at all ... but then Channel 5 came along with it's ruddy logo.

I agree. Especially folks who like to smack their lips and make juicy slurpy sounds with their salivary flow.
Also on this note: I detest folks who chew gum loudly, especially when your on the phone with them or they are on the radio giving some sort of lame interview.
Also, what's with those folks who pick their nose while in their cars? Do they thing no one can see them just because they are in their cars? I've seen attractive women with carefully done hair and makeup so the way they appear to others is of obvious importance but there they are sitting at stop lights with their finger wedged into their nostril. What the hell?

Shitty Drivers and parkers,
MTV movie awards (should just rename it the Twi-Light awards), MTV in general,

While a former soldier missing a leg who fought for this country can't get a handicapped spot because some fat f**k took the last one.
