That's not a horror film. :p

And the poltergeist sequels? Do you like those? I've always thought they were crap, but I love the original.

You got me, dude. I know Zombieland isn't anywhere near horror but it sits in my horror collection, simply for having [some] zombies in it. I guess I should probably remove it...

Also, YES! I love the Poltergeist sequels! I know they're crap, but they're such a huge part of my childhood that I still love them to this day, even though I can now see all of their flaws. I actually showed part 2 to a friend recently, who had never seen it, and she actually said "I thought it was better than the first one!" :shifty:

Anyway, quit slacking and post your collection!

I dont have much of a collection. Off the top of my head...

The dead films and their remakes
The Fly
The Thing
The Devil's Rejects
Halloween
The Mist
Close Encounters of the Third Kind(?)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1&2
Jaws
From Dusk Till Dawn
American Psycho
The Omen

EDIT: A few more i've thought of...

The Alien Anthology - Buy this blu ray collection. INCREDIBLE
Creepshow (don't really consider this one much of a horror film though)
The Blair Witch Project
Poltergeist
An American Werewolf in London
The Exorcist
Batman & Robin

I'm not in front of my collection, but I think that's about it. Not much of a horror fan, really. I know....it's horrible saying that on a site dedicated to Romero...

Theres alot of hammer in there. I like hammer movies. also some of those are parts of boxsets but i think ive covered them all and i wasnt sure whether to include the planet of the apes movies or not, would anyone else say their horror? also the list is excluding my videos because like you guys, i no longer own a VHS player. I Have all my DVD's on a shelf in alphabetical order, am actually quite anal about this.

Funny you mention that because I considered it as well. I would say some of them are horror. I definitely consider the original and Conquest to be horror.

BTW, how could you guys get rid of you VCR's? I made sure to hang onto one for this very reason...

Andy, you don't alphabetize the word 'The' hehe. Also, I suppose to should add the rest of the Alien movies to my list, although after the first one I consider them not really horror but more just action/sci-fi.

Also, those of you who are too lazy to do this, here's a little incentive: You can make one of these lists and save it to your phone, that way when you're out buying DVD's and you can't remember whether or not you already have a specific movie (which happens to me all the time), you can just pull up this list and confirm!

That's not a horror film. :p

If that's the case, you have to throw Shaun of the Dead (which is on his list) in the same category. :D

Wow, post our horror movie collection? I don't know if I can type all that out without my fingers locking up. I'll have to consult the DVD/BR/HD-DVD shelves when I get home and see what kind of list I can compile. It's certianly too much to recall without looking at it.

I own exactly 0 DVDs, nor will i probably ever own one again. everything i have has been converted to a purely electronic format and stored on drives. the space one has after getting rid of a couple of hundred DVDs nearly boggles the mind.

the actual list of what i have would run into 5 posts. literally hundreds of things, mostly older classic horror (which i love) and almost nothing made after 1990 or so.
my list would be pretty much everything Universal, Hammer, AIP , Amicus, etc. ever made.

Like records, I enjoy owning the physical copy of the DVD. I enjoy standing at my shelf and browsing through the collection, much like comparing browsing video titles at a physical video store to searching through Netflix's website. Not only that, but with having all of your movies on hard drives... one wrong thing and you lose hundreds of movies. Kind of a scary thought.

Anyway, the Mrs. and I just ordered these:
-Superstition
-Black Roses
-Night Of The Demons
-C.H.U.D.
-The Blob (1988)
-Re-Animator
-Dead End Drive-In
-The Changeling
-Demons 2 - The Nightmare Returns
-Bloody Birthday
-One Dark Night
-Tales From The Darkside: The Movie
-The Woodchipper Massacre

Just got some more at this place called MovieStop, yesterday. I highly recommend checking it out to anyone who has one near them. Tons of movies that I've never seen in or stores, nor would ever imagine seeing without having to special order (sadly I already owned most of them). CHEAP, too. Also sweet "buy 3, get 1 free" deal.

-Return Of The Living Dead
-Return Of The Living Dead II (finally got around to upgrading these from VHS)
-Grindhouse
-Misery
-Predator
-Altered States
-Cloverfield
-The Signal
-Creepshow 2
-The Hills Have Eyes (1977)
-Castle Freak
-Halloween 4
-Near Dark
-Return To Horror High

After your recommendation, it having been 15-20 years since seeing the sequels, and their availablity on Instant Netflix, I gave them a watch last night. You're right....they aren't so bad. Obviously they're not classics like the original, but in their own way they're still entertaining.

Poltergeist 2 felt like it was treading the same grounds as the original, but the inclusion of Father Kane and "Chief" from Cuckoo's Nest was pretty cool. The actor playing Kane is one creepy ass dude. The ending to this film was the worst part. The entire "other side" sequence was poorly done and should have been avoided. The back story of Kane's cult was nice.

Poltergeist 3 was oddly my favorite of the two sequels. I love that it tried something different from the first two. The building setting and the mirror motif was refreshing. Also, it was populated with a nice cast. Unfortunately the original Father Kane didn't return, though. The new guy didnt cut it. Although it leaves a bit to be desired, I had a lot of fun with this one. The abrupt ending was a negative mark, but that was obviously the result of the death of the actress that played Carol Anne.

So yeah, I take back my original "crap" label for the sequels. There are plenty worse out there. They actually did a decent job with these considering the high standards left by the original. Good call, mike.

Awesome, glad you were into them! Kane is indeed very creepy.

The strange thing about that guy looking exactly like Kane is that song isn't about him; it's about the walking man from The Stand.

I've forgotten to post some stuff I've acquired. Here's my most recent gathering, for a miniscule $30 (Deep Discount had a great sale):

-The Exterminator (BluRay)
-Frankenhooker (BluRay)
-The Deadly Spawn
-Ice Cream Man/Jack Frost 2/Killer Tongue triple feature (bought it for Ice Cream Man)
-Monster In The Closet

Also, my girlfriend isn't home from her parents yet, but there are a ton of DVD-looking gifts for me under our tree and she has alluded to them all being 80's/obscure horror flicks. Pumped!

Really its a good list of horror movies. i like horror movies too much. Most of movies i have seen and it will help to find another one best horror movie. Thanks for sharing...........

That's all I have on physical DVD. I also have a 1TB HDD with a lot (A LOT) of horror movies on it, some are rips of stuff I ditched on physical DVD ages ago (I was moving house and had less shelf space - man, that was time-consuming!), some I got by... other means. A lot of these, but not all, are things that are impossible to get on DVD or at least not easily/affordably in the UK.

This is what's on that hard disc (just the horror stuff, there's a lot of other cult action/sci-fi/thriller stuff on there, also some dupes):

Absurd
Anthropophagous: The Beast
Birdemic
Black Sabbath
Blood Cult
Blood Cult 2: Revenge
Blood Feast
Blood Feast 2
Blood Red Planet
Cannibal Campout
Chain Reaction (House of Blood)
Curse of Bigfoot (terrible 1980s cash in using footage from an unfinished 60s bigfoot movie with new scenes shot with surviving actor to tie it together)
Don't Play with Me Part 1 (unreleased, home-made, sub-amateur, Afro-American action-horror some dude found on an old VHS tape at a dead relative's house, starring people he recognised from his neighbourhood)
Don't Play with Me Part 2 (conclusion to the above - together they're about 4 hours long!)
Dracula (1931)
Eat and Run
Eyes Without a Face
Feeders (golden SOV trash with rubber puppet aliens)
Feeders 2 (as above, but with Santa)
Forest Primeval (SOV trash)
God Told Me To
HalloweeNight (quite good SOV trash)
Hammer Horror - all of them, I'm not going to list them
Hellspawn (SOV trash)
Holla! If I Kill You (SOV trash)
The House that Screamed (SOV trash)
I Sell the Dead
Island of Lost Souls
Long Island Cannibal Massacre
Malevil
Maniac Cop
Mortuary
Muckman (fun SOV trash)
The Music of Erich Zann (amazing forgotten Lovecraft short)
Night of the Demon (50s)
Night of the Demon (1980 bigfoot flick)
Night of the Demons
Night of the Lepus
Night Thirst
Ogroff the Mad Mutilator (French 8mm homemade horror, surprisingly good!)
Peter Rottentail (SOV trash comedy)
Phantom of the Opera (1925)
Phenomena
Premutos: The Fallen Angel
Prince of Darkness
Rawhead Rex
Re-Animator
Bride of Re-Animator
Beyond Re-Animator
Saurians (hilarious 8mm dino movie!)
Society
Spider Baby
Splatter Farm (disturbing SOV trash)
Street Trash
Streets of Death (obscure SOV thriller)
The Stuff
Terror House (SOV trash)
Things (Canadian SOV trash)
Toxic Avenger
Toxic Avenger 2
Toxic Avenger 3
Toxic Avenger IV
Trancers
Vermillion Eyes (dream-like 8mm psycho-sexual nightmare)
Who Can Kill a Child
Wild Beasts
Witchdoctor of the Living Dead (unwatchable/hilarious zero-budget Nigerian SOV zombie movie with music and sound effects lifted from ZFE and kung-fu flicks)
Zombi (Italian version of Dawn)
Zombi 2 (Zombie Flesh Eaters)
Zombi 3 (Zombie Flesh Eaters 2)
Zombi 4: After Death (Zombie Flesh Eaters 3)
Zombi 5: Killing Birds (seems Vipco never got as far as releasing this with a ZFE title!)

I'm sure you'll agree I have a strange taste in films!

Haha! That's actually why I got it.

It's a fun little ghoulish comedy, and a major influence on Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses and its sequel (although for my money, it's quite superior). It's got Sid Haig in it, who I always thought was black, but he's definitely white in this movie (??). He's like a reverse Michael Jackson. Guess he just moved somewhere sunny with his paycheck from Spider Baby. :p
