I've seen these before and always wondered what was up with this but had forgotten to ask - figured if anyone would know it would be C5NOTLD.

This is so weird. The only explanation I can think of is that by adding a slightly non-specific "R. Burr" to the start of the credits would imply the presence of a famous actor (Raymond Burr) without going the whole hog and risking a lawsuit from Burr himself. As for George A. Kramer, maybe they thought that the name Romero sounded too Southern European and they wanted to highlight that this was an American film and not some eurotrash flick?
