this is a photograph taken in 1999 of the Rhine river. i must be missing something because this is nothing more than a grey river under a grey sky with some green patches in front and back.

that is one the most boring pieces of art i've ever seen.

the stuff people will spend massive amounts of money on never ceases to amaze me.

I think it's a really nice shot. I like the way the sky, river, grass and path form blocks of muted colour across the image. It turns an everyday scene into something minimalist and surreal, like a Rothco painting. It would be cool to have... as a free desktop background. Hell, I've taken nice pics like that on my crappy bridge camera. Serious, they're on Facebook if you wanna see them.

$4.3 million!? Let's just say it better come in one hell of a nice frame.
