...the destruction of palestine?I hope so,after that raid on israel by hamas at the weekend,i think they deserve all they get!i have no sympathy for the palestinians, they want everything but give nothing,& still act like terrorists after all the ground israel has given in the peace process.

And the world waits... It won't get too far I don't think. As soon as they cross into "Palestine" someone will lose their nerve and pull back before a full victory.

more than likely not. But BBC world services said that IDF armored units were massing on the border to gaza. so without a doubt they're going back in. i suspect they're just waiting for Mossad or IDF intel confirming their kidnapped soldier is in fact dead before they move in.
where it gets interesting is, what is Hamas's reaction to this going to be. if the IDf goes into gaza again, and the militant portion of Hamas attacks them. the downhill slide is going to fall entirely on the Pali governments' response.

Sigh ... get me in with an M4 and a bag of gak and i will go sort it out once and for all.

Israel needs to stay out of Gaza and they both need to grow up. Seriously, they're like children. How about we cut off funding to both of them and see how it goes?
I was willing to give Hamas a chance at governing. I was disappointed when the US cut Palestinian funding. Whatchogonnado?

They have been picking at each other for too long, like a couple of quarreling brothers.
It's time to stand back and say "Go ahead, knock lumps out of each other." Either they will kill each other or finally sort out there differences. I think the former.

well it's on. Israeli armor and ground troops have crossed the border. There are airstrikes going on now.
Give them time to finish the job this time.

Do you remember those good times when the Crusaders took Jerusalem and slaughtered every man, woman and child living inside the walls?
Good times, eh?

Just an update..http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1226097,00.html
I have a lot of respect for Israel, they are the only civilised nation on the planet who will stick up for themselves & look after their own regardless of world opinion. They are willing to send in their entire army to rescue one young lad, fair play to them! And they crushed Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Iraq all at once in the 6 day war ;)
On another note,i read in the news today that the argentinians are once again laying claim to the falkland islands, hopefully they wont be stupid enough to try landing troops there again....

Tricky, have you ever met Israelis? They are some of the best people I've known. In the Sun Sentinel today the front page featured a picture of Israeli soldiers. They were cheering, supposedly at learning they'd be invaded "Palestine."
Let's not forget why they're going into "Palestine," ye liberals who'd naysay their decision: They are going due to the capture of an Israeli soldier by terrorists.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
I think Bond said that, by the way.

Israel has an inferiority complex. Jewish numbers were completely decimated in Europe, post world war II. So they decide to petition the United Nations for jewish resettlement of Palestine. In doing so, they displaced an entire population and destabilized the middle east.
I wonder if any remaining so-called "survivors" remember what it felt like to have their possessions and their homes taken from them, only to be displaced in ghettos and concentration camps? Of all people, you would think they would be able to sympathize with the Palestinians.
Two wrongs definitely don't make a right. Genocide is NOT right, and neither is the jewish resettlement of Israel and the displacement of Palestinians. Israel's only claim to the land is "it was given to us divinely by God."
If I were to walk into your house and tell you and your family to leave because your home was divinely given to me by God, and eventhough i've been away for 1000 years I still have a right to move back in, you would take me for mad. And that's exactly what the zionists did to the Palestinians.
I am by no means a fan of islamic fundementalism either. But then again, i'm by no means a fan of zionist imperialism either.
But enough about the whole thing. Israel has reoccupied Gaza and everyone knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Our best bet is to NOT get involved with the Israelis and the Palestinians and their petty little semitic tribal dispute.

Tricky, I never thought you were digging at them; just asking. :D They are some really great people.
Trioxin, the problem with leaving Israel alone is the fact that Israel is the only place in the Middle East that is truly a free country. You can be any religion you want there, so long as you don't start trouble. Try being a Jew in any other country in the Middle East! While I'm sure the Israelis considered the plight of the Palestinians, they did try to coexist; but the PLO had some choice things to say about that. In the past Israel has tried working with them; but again and again the Palestinians break the tentative ceasefires.
It had to come to this eventually. It'll end with a) the destruction of Israel, or b) the destruction of the militant, terrorist wing of Islam. Neither one looks to be coming any time soon, and forgive me for hoping that the latter comes tommorrow...
