even though this isn't one of the "canon" "bbc ghost story for christmas" stories, this is one of the best horror things ever done on tv. it is a perfect example of how a stripped down story that works mostly by suggestion can be way more effective than showing everything off.


if you haven't seen the old BBC christmas stuff, they are excellent and should really be seen by anyone who loves old school horror like i do. most are based around the stories of the aforementioned M.R. James. standouts are: "a warning to the curious", "the treasure of abbott thomas", and the incredible "the stalls of barchester" (my fav horror story ever)

you should probably dig all of the james adaptations on that were done. great, straight up, old school horror.

they are, ahem, quite easy to find.
