View Full Version : Data Recovery software - can anyone recommend some?

Okay so here's the deal - one of my computers is kind of on the way out slowly, and the other day it managed to corrupt a flash drive with data on it (around about 10gb of panel discussions, podcasts, music etc). It went from having the Fat32 file system to apparently having a "RAW" file system.

When I put the drive into a computer it says it needs to be reformatted - but naturally that would delete all the data on the drive - so before I go and do that, I want to know if there is any software out there that can recover that much data from a flash drive that has somehow (in the midst of a series of computer freezes/failures to boot ... long story) lost it's formatting (for lack of a better term).

I've found a couple of trial versions that only do limited amounts of data, but can anyone recommend me some software that can recover as much as 10gb of data? Preferably free too! :D

Try SpinRite. It's free, as far as I know.

Thanks for the tip.

However I did find another piece of software and it worked a treat - I'd meant to close this thread as a result, but just plum forgot.
