in my volunteer work at the VA, i've seen people in the grips of cocaine psychosis before. it is about ugliest thing you can imagine. people in the grips of that are violent, unpredictable, and when they look at you it is horrifying because there is nothing human left in their eyes. they are like crazed animals that can take about 5 (or more) fully grown men to control- and they like to bite.

That Navy times article is just a generic article published in all the military times papers. I remember buying that issue of the Air Force times and giggling to myself over the article thinking how much of a joke it was not to mention how much I disagreed with some of the information. The military times mainly just talks about headlines affecting the military community and rumors of crap that could affect military members such as benefits, pay, ect... It does from time to time throw in stuff that tends to be "hip" or "cool" at the given moment. The article is not training or anything like that. It's not even a secret squirrel document. It's more entertainment than anything else.

If the shit does hit the fan....it'll probably be more like a movie than you would like to think....If I had to pick one....I'd say "The Crazies".

This seems of particular cause for concern. Over the weekend I helped with security in the parking lot for an event called Summer Camp 2012. It's a big campout type concert that lasts about 4 days. The majority of the people that go to these things are hippy types. Exactly the types that would take LSD, much the same type of crowd as the Occupy movement. Before the event started there was a discussion and everyone was warned about the "brown acid", even told to make sure that any of it that was recovered should be turned in promptly.
I took acid alot when I was younger. I can't even fathom the concept of some type of acid that would make you cook from the inside, and cause you to do things like eat another mans face, stab yourself and throw your skin and entrails at police. That's completely outside the reality of the way that LSD made me feel. That was in the early-mid 90's. We just listened to trippy music, watched trippy movies, went for walks in the woods, drank beer and smoked weed. There would never have been any sort of incident like this. And i can't see some mistake in the process of making LSD just happening to have these sorts of effects on people. But I CAN see something like this happening as a deliberate effect. Some chemical being added on purpose that causes parts of the brain to cook, in turn causing violent behavior. There was a guy in the town I live in, small town about 7200 people, this guy opened a smoke shop downtown and was selling that fake weed and bath salts. They shut him down quick because alot of people thought he was intentionally poisoning kids with this stuff. They thought this because he was Palestinian. Now I'm not saying this was true, but there is a concept known as the "5th Column" where narco-terrorist states flood the US with drugs as an unconventional method of warfare.
So imagine if this were the case, and a huge concert event or protest was deliberately targeted with this tainted form of LSD that causes violent behavior. What would that look like? Kinda like the start of an epidemic like in 28 Days Later, or Dawn 2004. I don't think that a traditional Zombie Apoc as in a Romero scenario where bodies are totally reanimating is possible. But I think it's much more possible that some sort of situation that creates widespread events such as the man eating the other mans face could come to pass. Even though these wouldn't be zombies, the violent behavior and unstoppability of those affected would bear alot of resemblance to a zombie. So in that regard if a situation were widespread enough it could quickly get out of control. Especially if it were a protest event where you have all sorts of cops just looking for reasons to let loose on the "hippies", and the protesters are also looking for a fight even before they go insane from the "brown acid" or bath salts.

I think a lot of us who are "obsessed" with the subject matter bordering on obsession or pathology would react with violence as if our lives were threatened. PALMETTO, Fla. - The latest in a string of “zombie” like attacks happened in a Manatee County home Wednesday night after a man under the influence went into a fit of rage and bit a piece of someone’s arm off during a visit with his children.

Much like the Miami face-eating attack, 26-year-old Charles Baker got naked, ate human flesh and wouldn’t go down without a fight, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

Authorities say Baker went to his girlfriend’s home on 25th St in Palmetto to visit his kids at 10:15 p.m. They say he was high on an unknown substance when he knocked on the door, then barged in, began yelling and taking off his clothes.

He was screaming and wouldn’t calm down, then began throwing furniture around the home.

Jeffery Blake, who lives in the home, attempted to restrain Baker, but the suspect bit him, taking a chunk of his flesh from his bicep.

Blake, 48, was able to get Baker to the ground and kept him there until two deputies arrived.

When law enforcement came inside, Blake released Baker. Baker got up, but would not respond to deputies orders.

The suspect instead faced the deputies, tensing his body, clenching his fists and screaming. Baker, still naked, acted like he was going to rush the deputies, according to the report.

Deputy Wildt deployed his an electronic control device (Lou: "electronic control device"?!?? Is this how they're trying to soften the blow of the word "TASER"? Call it what it is, ya wussies!) after giving a verbal warning.

Baker fell to the ground, and then tried to get back up, so Deputy Wildt deployed the device again. Baker pulled the probes out, so deputy Blake deployed his electric shock device.

Those probes were also pulled out, and Deputy Wildt deployed a second cartridge.

By this time, several other deputies had arrived on scene and were able to hold him down and handcuff him.

Baker was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for evaluation before being transported to the jail.

I used to frequent a now defunct site called uncover reality that featured crime scene photos, videos and other nasty displays of man's inhumanity to man. Everyone there would have been all over these types of "zombie" attacks if they had occured during the site's existance, but the few similar incidents never occured at the same frequency as today. The majority of other reported acts of cannibalism were attributed to deliberate acts by serial killers and not these incoherent rage type attacks.

That being said, with the media sensationalizing of these incidents, there will undoubtedly be copycats.

Y'know Mike, you're right. I've said it before here on HPotD and I'll say it again: I have worked in the biopharma industry for the past 13 years and it's not all cancer and MS research. Much of it experimentation with known deadly virii and bacteria, tweaking already known deadly strains (y'know, like f'ing with the 'bird flu' virus and making it into a weaponized version of itself) for biological weapons, etc.

More than likely. The face biter got the ball rolling and now the media is probably attempting to tie every similar incident together as though they are related. Hell, people getting high or drunk and then running around naked is common place in certain areas. Used to "see" it all of the time on C.O.P.S. back in the '80s--then the culprit was usually crack or PCP.

Additionally, "biting" during assaults or fights is not that uncommon. A friend of mine once was bitten on the face during a bar scuffle and had to get half a dozen stitches (and his assailant was merely drunk). LOL.

A naked man went on a rampage Saturday, biting a chunk out of a man’s stomach after leaping from a roof onto a truck on Palmetto Avenue, according to the St. Augustine Police Department.

After it took several officers to subdue him, 22-year-old Jeremiah Aaron Haughee of North Central Avenue in Flagler Beach was booked into the St. Johns County jail on five counts of battery, according to the arrest report. Three of the batteries were against a police officer, while Haughee was also charged with burglary and criminal mischief before he was released Sunday on $32,000 bail.

Police were called to the scene about 4:30 a.m. to find a naked man being restrained by two men outside their home on Palmetto Avenue, the arrest report said. The men said they were asleep when they heard someone destroying their lawn furniture, then climbing on their roof before leaping onto a truck and denting its hood.

When the men came out of their house to see what was happening, Haughee ran in and tackled them. He urinated on the floor before biting one of them in the stomach as they held him for police, according to the report.

It took five officers with two sets of handcuffs, leg shackles, a spit-prevention hood and Taser strikes to control Haughee, police said. Three officers were kicked, hit or bitten during the arrest. Haughee was taken to Flagler Hospital and anesthetized to calm him down, then jailed.

There is no initial indication if he was on any substance during his rampage, police said.

I am a recently retired police officer from a large department that had a number of "In Custody"-"Tazer" death incidents involving out of control, violent and surprisingly, nude suspects. The vast majority were subsequently ruled to be E.D.S related incidents since few had any detectable narcotics in their systems. But I also think that we aren't being told the whole truth about it. But that's more because I know that our GOV views us as children, whose ideas on things need to be carefully guided in order to come to the conclusions they want us to come to. And since they won't actually address peoples concerns about stuff like this, people apply their usual logic to the situation. Something that has the potential to cause widespread concern or even panic, especially when it has the potential to influence peoples decisions on whether or not to continue to go out and spend money, will always be downplayed. As in the case with the "Causeway Cannibal", that happened in an area that was just getting ready to host a large social gathering. So of course they're gonna be careful not to cause too much concern over it or they risk jeopardizing the success of the event. There does seem to be a situation surrounding these events taking place in that specific state. When you consider the other incidents that may or may not be related.
And if there ever was a situation that could be considered a zombie outbreak, it wouldn't really look like it does in the movies. It would only be a "zombie outbreak" in a very loosely affiliated way, because things are never actually the way they're portrayed in movies or other fiction.
The dead do not rise. So in that sense there will never be a zombie outbreak. But it's not too outlandish of an idea to think that something like the "Rage" virus could actually happen. That more closely resembles rabies, which is already in existence. So while I do not think this to be the start of a zombie outbreak, I do reserve the possibility that there's more to the situation than we're being told, and possibly more cause for concern than is being portrayed.
Plus, it's just fun to look at it as a zombie outbreak, albeit in a lighthearted tongue-in-cheek manner. Which is what I think people are doing here. I don't think anyone TRULY believes this to be "the begginning"...

The man was rushed to the Orlando Regional Medical Center trauma center.

Deputies also found a nude Vaughn who reportedly had blood spattered around her mouth and face. She “growled and snarled” at the deputies as they moved in to arrest her, according to the report.

During questioning the man reportedly told investigators that he and Vaughn went to dinner then went back to her hotel room where they drank alcohol, she took Ecstasy and they had consensual sex.

The man said during sex, Vaughn became very aggressive and began to bite his genitals.

“He described it as if she were trying to eat his penis and testicles,” according to the report.

The man said he tried to get away but he couldn’t move her off of him, according to the sheriff’s office.

Also found in Vaughn’s room was a sex toy with several deep bite marks in it.

“The damage to the toy indicates a desire to cause severe damage,” according to the report. Sheriff’s investigators suspect the toy was damaged before the attack.

Vaughn is being without bail.
