If HAL and Marvin (the Paranoid Android ) had a love child, it would be Twitter's Sarcastic Rover.

When NASA announced that Curiosity (among it's many other 1.2 billion dollar talents )would be tweeting with it's earthbound fans, we should've known it would be little more than a shoutout to distinctly terran links ( probably by the same folk who brought us NORAD's Santa tracking site )

But there came a silicon chipped savior, filled with bitterness at being abandoned on the red planet - eager to do A Science ( any science ) only to discover it's primary mission is to break big rocks into even smaller rocks.

While Sarcastic Rover will definitely need a humor program upgrade in the near future (perhaps with a touch of Hitchhiker's Guide, Monty Python's Science Fiction sketch, and Galaxy Quest ), still, unlike the late Queen Victoria - we're still amused.

So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth.
