I've always wonder if/when we'd start getting main stream films featuring genuine sex? ie: Harking back to the days of sheak-porn when it was fashionable and OK to see sex in mainstream cinemas?

Anyway, seems Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac has a lot of big names in it... and we may just see how big they really are :sneaky:

Just seems like a marketing scheme to me. Drumming up more viewers with a chance to see famous genitalia....

Lars von Trier... love him or hate him, the dude certain knows how to attract attention.

"Riget" will probably remain the best thing he ever does.

They are filming this pretty close to where I live, in Ghent. I'll keep you guys posted of any celebs/genitalia.
Von Trier certainly isn't squeamish as anyone who saw 'The Idiots' can tell you.

And yeah, Riget is so good you should check it out if you haven't already. My personal Von Trier favourite is Europa. Did you see that one Mike?

They already tried this with Caligula, and we know how that turned out. I pass on pornography.

You WHAT on pornography?!?!

If they wanted to raise awareness & profits for this film, stop throwing around the names of famous DUDES. I don't wanna see THEM doing it!

Von Trier pushed his luck with Antichrist; looks like he's gonna push it further with this one.

That film was too boring, pretentious and sleazy for me, but Melancholia was very good.

...the director delivered a 5½-hour cut of the film. But the version that debuts Dec. 25 in Copenhagen for the world premiere will be just four hours -- and divided into two two-hour features.

"To produce scenes of unsimulated sex, Von Trier is having the genitals of porn actors digitally composited onto the bodies of the film's cast." - Now can't wait to see the credits role for this - "Shia LaBeouf's c0ck double" :)

:lol::lol::lol:

It seems kind of silly in a way - either have their real bits and pieces, or not bother at all ... grafting on stunt willies and fannies seems a bit weird.

Some poor digital effects guy has got to sit there for weeks pasting on LaBeouf's fake todger, frame, by frame... Argh!

That said, other articles have said LaBeouf's sex scenes are supposedly real - But maybe this is just in the context of real bits, not necessarily his and the actress(es).

All very strange and silly...why pay for porn that won't even be proper hardcore? :D

Actually, I would pay to see Natalie Portman getting it up the ar$e if the chance arose... :sneaky:

I'm not really fussed about Lars Von Trier's work - not really my cup of tea - but I'll check this out, I reckon. Looks kinda messed up in a fascinating sort of way.

Looks fairly saucy, too. ;)

So from what I understand it's two films? So this is part 1, with part 2 coming out another time?

Shia LaBeouf walks out of Berlin press conference, and later wears a paper bag over his head... Has he gone bonkers?

US actor Shia LaBeouf has walked out of a news conference for director Lars von Trier's new film Nymphomaniac at the Berlin Film Festival.

LaBeouf left after 10 minutes, quoting footballer Eric Cantona's famous 1995 line: "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea."

He later appeared on the red carpet wearing a paper bag on his head.

Who ever did the paper bag made a very neat job of it!

AICN likes part 1 - http://www.aintitcool.com/node/66633

The true value and triumph of NYMPHOMANIAC won't be known until the second part is watched (I believe it's on VOD now), but VOLUME I is an achievement in atmosphere, acting and depth that is rarely seen in true mainstream film, but is commonplace in the films of Von Trier. So it's okay to show up for the sex as long as you stay for the deep probing of the mind as well.

4/5 at Cinemablend - http://www.cinemablend.com/reviews/Nymphomaniac-Volume-1-6773.html

It’s ultimately upsetting that Von Trier split this epic into two, because Volume One closes anticlimactically, demanding a follow-up. Particularly considering late in the first entry when Uma Thurman arrives like a force of nature, running rampant through Joe’s home when her husband makes the choice to shack up with Joe. It’s a violent pushback against the free sexuality of the picture, a foreboding harbinger of Volume Two doom. Nymphomaniac is a borderline surgical look at sexual deviance, but you have to shell out for Volume Two to find out if it is any more than that.
