Though Halloween has been postponed until this friday in my township ( due to sandy's mammoth bag of tricks ) here's a little treat to put the happy back.

This just shows to go that light shows ain't just for the fourth of July or New Years anymore.

There came sporadic small arms fire from the direction of the north gate but Peter was unconcerned. The old siren atop the main building, rusted but still functional since 55, would have sounded loud and shrill in an emergency.
“Likely thinning the herd. “ he thought to himself, momentarily distracted. Nothing they’d tried up to this point in time provided anything approaching a satisfactory answer as to the how and why of the walking dead.
Radiation, some kind of germ warfare, all leads which brought the team full circle. They had alot of Greek salad which meant nothing.
The brain was active on the most primal level, normal autonomic function nonexistent. No breath, no heartbeat, yet the body functioned. Hands could grasp, teeth could rip and tear. Hunger and a subdued but still strong homicidal instinct drove the animated corpses on.
“Maybe they really are the zombies of Marys’ mythology. “ he joked to himself as the gunfire stopped. Whatever the problem had been, the soldiers seemed to have settled it.
There was another kind of noise coming from the warehouse as Peter neared the front entrance. But it only made him smile as the young man heard the sound of children laughing.
For only ten children, the gleeful din made it seem like a whole brigade of the munchkins had taken over the common room of the family quarters. Peter was surprised to find strips of orange and black cloth strung in dangling loops along the walls. Not to be outdone, the screaming giggling pint-sized horde was equally colorful in assorted costumes.
“Think fast. “ a tiny ball of something was tossed his way and the programmer managed to snag it at the last minute. Jennie was smiling at him from across the room near what looked like a long table laden with food. He examined the odd object in his hand, amazed to find; a Carmel popcorn ball.
“Happy Halloween. “ she greeted him.
“What’s all this? “ he asked as his wife came over to welcome him with a firm hug.
“An attempt at some normalcy. “ she teased. “Courtesy of Sergeant Todd. He and some of his men brought in candy for the kids a week ago. The decorations and outfits are sort of improvised. “
He saw a few pirates, hobos and fairy princesses but there was an absence of other more traditional disguises. Jennie nodded at the unspoken question in his eyes.
“No ghosts, no ghouls, absolutely nothing to remind them of what waits just beyond the gates of this sanctuary. We’ve agreed not to rub their noses in the obvious any more than necessary. “
“Works for me. “ chuckled Peter appreciatively, as she escorted him to where the refreshments awaited him.
