Hey folks, how you guys been? Hope everyone had fun on Halloween and I realize that was 3 weeks ago but I thought I'd share this anyways. As most of you know I went to the Savini school for makeup a few years ago but since have developed more of a passion for 3d modeling and video game design. I have a few props I'm working on to sell on Ebay but haven't really done much with makeup since then. It's a tough market and yada yada. At the restaurant/bar I work at we had a costume party/contest and I decided to do some makeup on myself (which is not easy at all haha) and have fun on Halloween for the first time in years. So I ordered a few supplies and made a plan. I spent about $70 getting all the stuff but it all came back obviously. I did a practice makeup 2 nights before and you can see where the makeup came off my nose when I was putting my shirt on! I had to ride my bike to work 2 miles in full makeup on Halloween and the contacts were making my eyes water really bad haha. I didn't bring enough makeup with me to do much touching up but all in all it turned out well because I won first place! Now, I know $300 bucks isn't a ton of money but man every bit counts! And I used it to buy new snowboarding gear! Anyhow I had to work in the makeup all night too so comfort was in mind as well as not putting people off their appetites with too much gore. So I did a simple arm bite effect with latex and beef jerky and some veiny face makeup. The contacts I bought are super cheap too but did the job even though I looked a little Bill Bixbyish ;) So have a look! As I said I should've brought more makeup to work to touch it up but oh well! It worked and I finally made money doing makeup haha. Don't expect KNB quality. ;)

The veins under my eyes got destroyed by them watering so much and I didn't bring purple to touch up so it ended up kinda looking like eyeliner but you guys get it I'm sure.

And a practice make up I did 2 days before.

I looked a little Bill Bixbyish

"Don't make me angry Mr Magee. You won't like me when I'm angry!" ;)

That's a great makeup job. Where those contacts annoying to wear? I always imagine them to be uncomfortable.

I tried to do zombie make up on myself a few years ago and it turned into a fat disaster. I looked like I just threw a load of wet baking powder on myself. :(

Yeah they were annoying but I didn't buy the special contact drops either. Haha, baking powder eh? Nice. It's hard to catch detail on film. Here's another shot up close and you can see more detail. Again of the test makeup. I found an even smaller brush I has stashed away even after this haha.

Wow, the veins/capillaries around the nose and mouth look great! How was the reaction on the street on the way to and from???

Congrats!

Mirin that wound, in particular. I prefer the "fresh" looking zombies, with just wounds and fleshy skin, as opposed to the 'corpse paint' esque white look, but you actually did a pretty good job with the "powder" look. Good job! Winning money for it must've been rad

Thanks dudes!! To me one of the funnest things of a zombie makeup is exactly what kinda you want to do. Flesh colored, white/deadish or classic dawn blue? :p Here's a shot of my room mates one piece foam latex appliance back in school on my little brother that I helped apply and paint. A flesh colored zombie as you call it. :) I got the idea for the half ass bandage job from the little girl in night 90 (her name wasn't Karen what was it again?). At the end she comes out with her arm wrapped in similar bandage and I thought it looked cool plus it covers the edges. ;)

Obviously Day of the Dead inspired. If I had foam latex and a spare oven at my house, along with a foam running room, I would have done one of these too haha.

That's badass work too! You ever do the makeup for a film?

Oh yea, fellow dreadhead here.

Thanks Jon. Always nice to meet people with common interests. No, I never worked on a film. Maybe one day.
