A comet discovered by two Russian astronomers will be visible from Earth next year. Get ready for a once-in-a lifetime light show, says David Whitehouse.

Comet Ison could draw millions out into the dark to witness what could be the brightest comet seen in many generations – brighter even than the full Moon.

Y'know guys, all we have to do is find some valley girls to spend the night in a shed with, and we'll be FINE! :D

Good news is it will be visible from the northern hemisphere :)

Other good news is there's a spaceship in its tail supposedly with a naked lady in!

Currently traveling at over 50,000mph... At the end of November it will reach 425,000mph when it shoots past the Sun. If it survives that, December 10th-14th will be the time to see it in all it's glory hopefully!

Sure... Assuming the huge glowing cometary tail overhead doesn't remind you in itself that's there's a large cometary tail overhead.

So, perihelion tomorrow! We'll then soon know if it's been torn/cooked apart, or if we're in for the show of a life time.

Remember it's traveling within just one diameter of the Sun! (About a million miles.)

It's currently traveling at nearly 300,000mph, but that will almost triple to about 845,000mph tomorrow I believe!

Isn't this when the naked space-vampire girl is scheduled to make another appearance? (Update: Oops. Didn't see that Neil and MoonSylver had already found the neked chick before I did - My bad. Waltzing with Matilda are you?) Why don't you just suck all the lifeforce out of the people of London while you're at it.
Hee.

Less than 3hrs now... and traveling at around 180 miles per second and accelerating towards the Sun quicker and quicker and quicker... Currently this 2mile wide rock is accelerating quicker than a sports car!

Yeah, I believe this thing was going to be very obvious to the naked eye, something we could all marvel and wonder at for a while, now it's apparently gone or reduced to a burned out husk. :(

X millions(?) of tonnes being pulled so hard it accelerated faster than a Formula 1 car, and heated to thousands of degrees... not surprising it broke up :(
