Cryonics may look like science fiction but cryonicists believe that at some point in the future it will be possible to bring back people from the dead.

BBC Inside Out follows a group of people who are making plans to be frozen when they die.

F*ck no. I'm miserable now. What the hell do I want to come back for when I finally have some relief at last?

Only worthwhile if you die young I'd have thought, unless they can reverse the ageing process at the same time! Who'd want to come back as an old fart with arthritic limbs and incontinence?

I would think they know what happens to cells when they freeze (they expand outwards like jagged snowflakes, destroying all cell integrity like a slow motion decomposition) so either they know and are con artist or they are hopelessly naive fools.

I'm thinking that bringing the dead back to life is a probably harder than making folk young again.

Doesn't seem like much of a risk really, any society that is bringing folk back to life is probably not short on space/food/resources/technology...not much chance of being revived in some horrible distopia where people are crammed on top of each other and finding a bit of moss under a stone is considered a "neato snag".

Apart from being mistaken for Khan or being considered extremely stupid because future folk have cool flash drives in their brains to pull any and all info off, it could be a pretty cool thing.
