Hmmm... A privately financed mission to orbit Mars in just 5yrs time?


Plans for a manned mission to Mars and back have been announced, subject to funding, by a team led by millionaire and former space tourist Dennis Tito.

The Inspiration Mars Foundation says it wants "an older couple" to be the passengers on the 500-day mission which would launch in January 2018.

I'll believe it when I see it...but if it happens, the people who make it happen deserve to be declared Gods.

I believe they won't actually go to the surface of the red planet, just orbit it, but who cares if they prove that the journey is doable. :)
